Russia will deploy two advanced missile systems to its far-west territory of Kaliningrad in a direct response to NATO expansion in eastern Europe, a pro-Kremlin Russian lawmaker said Friday.
Kaliningrad is a parcel of land disconnected from the Russian mainland that sits on the coast of the Baltic sea, sandwiched between Poland and Lithuania.
A Russian deployment of S-400 surface-to-air missiles and nuclear-capable Iskander balistic missiles to Kaliningrad, with its proximity to NATO member states, will undoubtedly heighten concerns among leaders of the transatlantic security alliance, who were already nervous over incoming American leader Donald Trumps commitment to their collective defense pact.

But, the Iskander is a conventional, short range missile by design. Yes, you can put a nuke on it, but Russia is not...so far...putting nukes on these.
The expansion of NATO was a very bad idea by the Bush administration and the Neocons. How could anyone expect Americans to givva sh!t about Romania, the Baltics or Bulgaria? Were we EVER willing to undertake existential war to defend them? Some fools wanted to add Georgia and Ukraine to that list.
The Neocons are still fighting the cold war. I saw Ralph Peters on Fox today and he’s foaming at the mouth that the Russians hate us and would do anything to hurt us. He’s basically advocating WWIII. I guess there’s a reason he only made Lt. Col. These people are always fighting the last war.
To me it’s still Königsberg and Putin should back off.
There you go! Your job is to defend Russia at all costs on here. Screw everyone, for the sake of Russia.
Sorry but for only a few brigades that Russia could roll through in a heartbeat... Overreaction.
“To me its still Königsberg and Putin should back off”
I wonder exactly how the Russians came into possession of it? There must have been some big event back then that didn’t go Germany’s way.
I’ll research it./s
Never been there but from the photos I’ve seen it looks like the Russians made it into an armpit.
The US and Britain signed it over to the Soviets in 1945.
Kinda tough to take it back. It’s not like it is its own country...hasn’t been for several hundred years.
WW-III began with Operation Masterdom in
Vietnam on
September 13, 1945
Are you rational right now?
Is it the place’s fault that a maniac leader came along? It was a great city of culture and learning. Now look at it.
The pics on Yahoo show a beautiful city.
So old Adolph did it all by himself? It’s really a bitch when you invade a place and murder millions, and just for THAT, they come take your possessions and rule there for a generation or two.
There ought to be a law....
oh hell yeah, just not on the ‘Russia is the savior of the world’ bandwagon. i’m sure you’d understand.
676,000 US deaths in WWII, less than our civil war/war between the states.
Russian losses: 26 million. And this is definitely a Russian sphere of influence.
Barry should be confined to a golf course, isolated, until the adults take over.
Only about half of this 26 million figure were Russian deaths. You are counting Ukrainian, Belorussian and other deaths as your justification why Russia should be allowed to harass these nations even more.
Also when it comes to the WW2 the Soviet accounting is questionable.
It is just four battalions. Russia is not afraid of these. They are making noise to sway the uninformed. From reading the comments below this article it either seems to be working or it is just paid posters spreading misinformation.
Is he the idiot that said Russia would cut off an arm if it would mean we had to cut off a finger????
Yes, totally unhinged and still fighting the cold war. we have a common enemy and if we worked with Stalin to defeat Hitler then we can work with Putin to defeat the Muzzies. The main thing to remember is Patton was right and we could have stopped Communism after WWII but politics got in the way.
Yep - and MacArthur fully intended to sweep the Pacific into submission before being taken out of the loop. The world would be a whole different place if we had finished the job.
