How Christie lost his spot on the Trump transition team
Yahoo News ^ | November 21, 2016 | Hunter Walker

Something was bothering Donald Trump as he made his victory speech after the election. The newly minted president-elect took the stage with at least 40 of his closest aides and allies, but according to a high-level campaign source familiar with Trump’s thinking, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie kept pushing to be near the president-elect and “trying to get in shots.” “Trump got annoyed,” the source told Yahoo News.

The election night photo incident was one of several factors Trump insiders cited to explain why Christie was demoted from his position as transition team chair and replaced by Vice President-elect Mike Pence on Nov. 11.

From the article:

"tons of good work was done by the transition team before the election. Hundreds of people were suggested and vetted for tier one appointments. Hundreds of people were identified for landing teams [for liaison with government agencies]. There were serious implementation plans written for over a dozen major policy initiatives that were put forward on the campaign trail,” the source close to Christie said.

The Christie source described the transition team under the governor as a “very professional organization,” and said there was nothing unusual in Trump replacing Christie with Pence.

“It is natural that the president-elect would want the vice president to take a major role, and that the campaign team would become the major players in the transition,” a source close to Christie said."

Interesting article.

Is Trump upset with Christie? Or is Pence taking over the transition team an expected development.

The article cites conflicting reports from different sources.

You should consider the source here, Yahoo News. They are spin artists of the first order and they don’t like Trump!

We’ll probably never know the real reason for this. It could’ve been the plan to swap Pence for Christie from the start. Could be Christie tried to take some food off Trump’s plate.

Who knows.

Just watching the live Trump elevator feed on CSpan and Scott Brown just emerged and sounded like he’s going to be the VA Sec just from his use of verbiage.

You can say that again. Yahoo news is always negative towards Trump. What a worthless site.

Christie prosecuted Ivanka’s father-in-law. Funny that Ivanka and Chelsea’s father-in-laws both served time in prison.

To judge a man, look not at how he behaves toward those who have power over himself, but look at how that man behaves towards the people over whom he has power.

****Chris Christie kept pushing to be near the president-elect...****

That description is exactly the impression I have always had about Christie; he has this need to be ‘on display’ and ‘sucks up’ for reflected glory or respect.

Being a fat man does not make one a big man.

Look, I don’t like Christie at all but I will defend him here. Christie has a full-time job. He was very busy going into the election. And he produced much of the research. But once the election is done, what is Trump and Pence to do, if not run the transition team. Surely nobody was expecting Christie to pick Trumps cabinet. And nobody wants to say yes to a Trump cabinet position before the election results are known. Additionally, Pence, who has spent over a decade in Washington, surely knows people there more than Christie.

So, the press is just trying to start trouble here. Christie fulfilled his extracurricular activity. Pence post-election has nothing to do as VP-elect and has all the time in the world and the know-how as well. He is a natural for the job. And traditionally, this has always been a role for a VP-elect.

And always remember Obama was the slowest president ever to put together a cabinet. And many of them ended up being his friends. Bush/Cheney had everyone selected by January 1, mostly because of his VP-elect, Cheney.

The reason: “It is natural that the president-elect would want the vice president to take a major role, and that the campaign team would become the major players in the transition,” said by the unnamed individual is exactly what I thought when it was announced the VP elect was told to take over the transition task force. Additionally, Trump was taking advantage of VP-Elect Pence’s knowledge of the process from his time in Congress and other posts he had held.

Compare this to the primary debate where the moderator missed calling Dr Carson in the pre-assigned sequence. Some presidential candidates took the opportunity to get on stage before their time.

What presidential candidate stayed back and did not rush on stage until the overlooked candidate was on stage?

Of course the actions of the moderator had no racist intent. :)
