Obama Admits He "Can't Pardon" Snowden Before A Trial - Sorry, Hillary
Zerohedge ^ | Nov 19, 2016 | Tyler Durden

After everyone from Jesse Jackson, to the terrified mainstream media to prominent Congressional Democrats have called upon Obama to issue a blanket pardon for Hillary Clinton, he finally admitted that it's not possible to pardon someone who hasn't yet stood trial for a crime. And while Obama was referencing a potential pardon of Edward Snowden with his comments, one could assume that the law should be applied the same way for all U.S. citizens.

I can't pardon somebody who hasn't gone before a court and presented themselves, so that's not something that I would comment on at this point. I think that Mr. Snowden raised some legitimate concerns. How he did it was something that did not follow the procedures and practices of our intelligence community. If everybody took the approach that I make my own decisions about these issues, then it would be very hard to have an organized government or any kind of national security system.

See Ford pardons Nixon.

Sometimes its good to have a president who is ignorant of his pardoning powers and history. Or maybe he just hung Hillary out to dry.

I don’t think he ever liked Hillary, but he is trying to pretend he likes her to retain his support.

I believe H.W. Bush pardoned Caspar Weinberger before he stood trial. I don’t think Weinberger was ever even indicted.

I don’t think Obama is “ignorant” here, I think he is firing a shot across the Clinton’s bow. It is a message. It is all over, you will not be getting any more help from me.

Let us now see what the Clint-bots do. Should be fun.

Or maybe he just hung Hillary out to dry.

He has no further use for her. But she still knows where lots of bodies are buried. He is trying to decide about his legacy here. Could get real interesting.

Sheeeeeyit. Talk about transparency. I see right through this crap.

He's going to pardon her.

I think it’s the latter. There’s no love lost between those two. It was a marriage of convenience. Nothing more.

Hillary is of no use to him any more. And whatever she might have on him, probably won’t make any difference at this point. And he may very well have far more on her.

Who can say.

Nor was Nixon ever on trial, but was pardoned.

What ZH is saying here that if this excuse holds, then Hillary and her minions are open to prosecution and trial and not eligible for a Presidential Pardon.

LOL

Unless of course the usual separate more lenient standards for Clinton (and only Clinton) apply ... which could easily still be the case. Comey made that very clear.

Weinberger may have been. Didn’t something happen in relation to his case right before the 92 election that helped put Billy Jeff in the White House?

You may be right. Maybe he was indicted right before the election.

The two are competitors now. Time for the Clinton foundation donors to re-direct their money. What he doesn’t realize, is he has nothing to sell like Hillary had as SOS.

He also said he couldn’t change immigration policy through executive orders. 23 times he said it. The he did it.

Certainly impossible until at least January 20, 2017.

As POTUS, he can pardon anyone for anything at anytime he pleases. He just doesn’t want to today. We’ll see come January 19th.

He sure as hell can and he knows it. Obama is lying again. He can even issue a pardon for crimes committed within a certain time range.
It was done for Nixon. It was done for the draft resisters who fled top Canada.
Clinton made numerous pardons. Bush I pardoned a slew of Iran Contra types.

Obama will lie till the day he is gone.
