CNN: Here's how to outsmart Fake News in your Facebook Feed
CNN ^ | 11-18-2016 | AJ Willingham

Just because it's on the internet doesn't make it true. It seems so simple, but if everyone knew that, Facebook and Google wouldn't have to pull bogus news sites from their advertising algorithms and people wouldn't breathlessly share stories that claim Donald Trump is a secret lizard person or Hillary Clinton is an android in a pantsuit.

It doesn't have to be this way. Fake news is actually really easy to spot -- if you know how. Consider this your New Media Literacy Guide.

Just WOW.... This is utterly ORWELLIAN.

Uhhhhh......

If your news source tells you it is ILLEGAL to view the WikiLeaks for yourself, and that only THEY are allowed to tell you what is in them, like CNN did just a few weeks ago, IT IS LIKELY A FAKE NEWS SOURCE!!

I don’t have any facebook feed, and to avoid fake news, I don’t watch CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, or MSNBC.

Just because it is reported by the MSM including CNN does not make it true.

Someone needs to publish a recap of CNN vs. “fake” news sites for an accuracy percentage during the election.

“Fake news is actually really easy to spot — if you know how.”

Yes, if it’s on CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, or NBC it may very well be fake.

3. Highly partisan news

A type of misleading news, this may be an interpretation of a real news event where the facts are manipulated to fit an agenda.

Sort of like...

...the news as reported by CNN.

No, just the detestable MSM, trying to become relevant again after they exposed their deceit, bias, and corruption during the election.

But didn’t CNN run the fake news story about Hillary just accidentally bumping into one of her fans (actually one of her staffers!) on a dog walk the day after the election?

They run fake news all the time — for the sake of the Uniparty.

Ted Cruz’s story about how Ben Carson was withdrawing in Iowa? That was coordinated with Cruz’s GOPe campaign and CNN.

"Just because it's on the internet doesn't make it true. It seems so simple, but if everyone knew that . . . "

Hey, CNN, people have been sarcastically saying, "Hey, it must be true, it's on the Internet" for about twenty years. And a lot of us don't trust stuff in the MSM, either, until it is verified from several sources.

"2. Misleading news

These are the hardest to debunk, because they often contain a kernel of truth: A fact, event or quote that has been taken out of context. Look for sensational headlines that aren't supported by the information in the article"

Kind of like CNN Breaking News, right?

I’m so glad for this public service from the arbiters of truth.

The left has latched on to a new meme.

They better be careful what they wish for.

Someone with a brain in the boardroom better squash this idiocy poste haste.

MySpace = did not manage format or content
FB = managed format, but not content
Next platform = manages format and content successfully

More about allowing users to remove or limit news feeds, advertising, unwanted messaging. I realize advertising is a revenue stream, but users should have the option of removing content.

FB has successfully ruined the user experience by splitting private messaging into a separate app and promoting unsolicited, unmanageable fake news.
