Moreover, it is their unalienable right to do precisely as they are doing. The constitution of the United States protects the right "peaceably to assemble", and the right to free speech - especially in politics - is considered sacred by Americans. Across the political isle, from outgoing President Barack Obama to Donald Trump himself, support has poured out for the right of these people to protest against an election result they find so intolerable. It is precisely in this way, in fact, that Americans make their displeasure known: in an arena not of weapons and bloodshed, but of ideas and discourse. The United States is a democratic Republic, and the right to dissent against official rule can never - and should never - be infringed. Those who exercise this right, whatever their particular political opinions happen to be, are quintessentially American, and they are to be congratulated.
With that said, those who choose to exercise their right to protest in this way do well to remember how precious that right is, and never demean it. That is why it is so unfortunate that some on the far left, starkly opposed to Donald Trump's election, have compared the demonstrations against him to the "Green Movement" against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Iran in 2009. In that case, an unpopular incumbent President was reelected in what was probably a rigged election, and people took to the streets in outrage.

And was promptly left to wither and be killed off because ValJar wanted to Protect her Iranian Comrades in Arms.
“peaceably to assemble”,
Of course.
Peaceably
That means stay off the freeway.
except that they support Iran with billions of dollars
This comparison does a severe disservice to both Iranians and Americans. First, the circumstances are not even similar. There is no particular evidence that election fraud is even a significant problem in the United States (and strong evidence to the contrary), and certainly no indication that Donald Trump won for any reason other than he legitimately secured the support of a greater percentage of the electoral college than his rival. Polls did show him behind leading up to the election, but those polls were always close - within a few points, in most cases. Ahmadinejad overcame double-digit deficits to pull off his miraculous 2009 “win”, and there are many reasons to suspect the result was not legitimate.
But even more important than this false equivalence, there is simply no measuring American political demonstrations against those done in Iran. To be frank, there is no freedom of Iran - no freedom of expression, and very little freedom of any other sort. Despite the Iranian government’s laughable inclusion of a “President” (a figurehead more than any kind of head of state), the nation is ruled by a theocratic dictatorship. The Ayatollah Khamenei is Supreme Leader, and his decisions are law with virtually no real oversight or checks. And his will (and that of the absolute Islamic government in general) is that the people must revere and obey their government, not ever question it. The people who marched (and protested in other ways) in the Green Movement did so not only without constitutional guarantees of their rights, but with full knowledge that they were putting themselves in tremendous danger. Many (it is hard to know the exact figure) were arrested, imprisoned, raped, and even tortured for daring to stand up to the ruling authorities. These Iranian patriots bore more in common with the original American revolutionaries - who fought and died for liberty in what was supposed to be a hopeless cause - than with the beneficiaries of those rebels’ sacrifices.
Jail these junior Jihadis!
How Obama Crippled the Iranian People’s Freedom Quest

Yea peaceful my grannie’s panties. Has there been a single one that hasn’t devolved into ugly violence? Will they still speak so charitably when our side takes the field?
They have more in common with the Islamist wackos who overthrew the Shah and installed the Ayatollah Khomeini!
Because Obama is doing nothing?
When the truth of the “Iranian Deal” which is not a treaty, come to light it will make Hillary Clinton look like an angel in comparison to Obama. Hillary is not angel!
Ha? Isn’t that the same Green revolution for democracy that the new obamahillary administration back-stabbed and betrayed, and turned their backs on those people with their little placards written in English asking the new US president of hopenchange: “President obama, stand with us”, and instead extended their bloody hands of friendship to the mullahs and their henchment??! Didn’t obamahillary call the people’s TRULY LIFE AND DEATH WAR WITH THE ISLAMIST TERRORIST OCCUPIERS OF THEIR COUNTRY, an internal “family feud” and allowed the mullahs and their hezbollah dogs to pulverized the old, the young, the children, in the streets and in their homes and in their islamist dungeons??? Didn’t that same obamahillary regime empower and enrich the mullahcracy to the tune of billions of dollars and basically grant them security guarantees into perpetuity by making them the islamist nuclear power hegemony in the Middle east, and forever kill the hopes and aspirations of the Green movement for democracy Iranians for freedom and a new democratic regime??
Truly, the murderous bloodsucking leftist scumbags are no different than their islamist counterparts. Two religions of Tagghiya, deceit, death, mayhem and bloodshed wherever they go.
Bravo!
The riots back in the 70’s were made up of Socialist and Muslims and were violent, not unlike the B.L.M, O.W.S., and other Socialist groups now agitating in Portland and elsewhere. The Socialist thought they would rule when the Shah of Iran fell, unfortunately the Mullahs were more violent.
Our current home grown group of socialist, progressive, agitators have allied themselves with outside groups that wish to destroy our Republic. That's the reason they keep screaming that Hillary won the popular vote, entirely ignoring our Constitution.
