When I was a young 'un, grandmas didn't try to look like frisky young things. By age 70 my beloved grandmother (who had nothing in common with Hillary, except for being a white woman) was washed out, saggy and wrinkly. But grandma was the most beautiful woman in the world, to me.
When I see women of grandmother-age today who are tarted up with heavy mascara, bright red lipstick, coiffed hair and flashy fingernails, I feel sorry for their grandchildren (if they have any).
If I were a small child, I'd be scared to death of these hip, modern grandmas. Think: Nancy Pelosi and Jane Fonda.
