Rooney was whining about lack of control. If he and his Congress critters want control then they should take back their authority over the budget process that was delegated to the Executive branch or quit their whining. The Corps is one giant earmark and should be tossed entirely.

I don’t know why it couldn’t exist as an entity which states can contract with.

Don’t build stuff where it floods.

See, easy if you try

Interestingly enough I think that Obamas mishandling of the Okechobee infrastructure contributed to the Dem defeat by suppressing turnout among Dems in South Florida. That and his mishandling of the Zika epidemic.

He is lawyer and and a government careerist. This is from his website

“As a Member of the Appropriations Committee, in addition to working to ensure Florida gets its fair share of funding for important environmental projects, Congressman Rooney has introduced legislation to address the need to expedite repairs and construction of the Herbert Hoover Dike as well as fund Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Program projects.”

I would like to have Ohio’s natural forest restored and maybe a few more lakes created as well. Maybe the rest of you can chip in and help it happen? Oh never mind, we will get our con’critter to just take it from you.

If there are private firms with equal/better capabilities, no. I’d thought they had some special expertise.

They are not some private company that is contracted because of its expertise. They are a branch of the US Federal Government. Why does the US Federal Government need this agency?

So pass a real budget then an appropriations bill for it. No more earmarks.
