It’s estimated that the US known reserves at our present rate of consumption will last the US 300 years.

I’ve believed it created oil and not via dinosaurs for longer then i can remember. But produce I mean some process we don’t know about deep in the earth.
They’ve found planets covered in hydrocarbons

I’ve actually never heard of noble metal, I understand how diamonds are made. For over 40 years I didn’t think dinosaurs and oil are related.

And this is just the Midland Basin portion of the play. The Delaware Basin to the west has nearly as much.

They are tapping the source rock for the basin that has sourced all the conventional fields through the years.

20 billion divided by 20 million that is about 3 years worth of oil You want to crunch those again?

The US has more oil available than all of OPEC. There's an estimated 3 trillion barrels of recoverable oil in the green river formation.
Here's a link to an ABC story about it. Here's a tidbit; over the last 100 years, the world has consumed about 1 trillion barrels. This repository alone is three times that amount.
One day, renewables will be cheap enough to compete with fossil fuel. Right now they aren't. We're being forced to pay to develop renewables primarily because the rest of the world is running low on fossil fuel. Our leaders agree with their donors that it's not fair for us to have such an advantage.

Horizontal drilling and multi-stage fracing is what is driving these plays. The rock has always been there but the permeability is too low.
