I can't see what Cruz gets out of moving over to AG unless he thinks he won't win a second term or he thinks McConnell will make his further time in the Senate unbearable. Maybe the latter is true, actually. There is no love lost between them.

The other question I have is to wonder how an AG role helps set him up for the presidency. It's not more prestigious than Senator, as long as you think you're going to stay Senator.

I'm left to conclude that he either hates being a Senator or he thinks his days are numbered.

Since Cruz was there for five hours and met personally with Trump, there is probably something there. Maybe Trump/Pence just wanted his help with vetting some people.

All this is merely talk … The President-Elect has to fill hundreds of positions in the Attorney General’s office plus many open judicial appointments and quasi-judicial administrative appointments … Cruz could be under consideration for any number of top spots PLUS could be asked to help with many lesser appointments in these areas … we all know that Ted Cruz is a brilliant appellate level lawyer and would make an excellent U.S. Solicitor General as he had been a truly excellent Solicitor General for the state of Texas.

Donald Trump is an excellent judge of people. Trump cannibalized Cruz’ primary team for the general election. Kellyanne and others moved over from Trump to Cruz. If Trump was impressed with Cruz during the primaries, that’s good enough for me.

I will say this. There is a whole lot of speculation going on out there.

If Trump made Gulianni the Attorney General, he would have to allow Rudy to fully prosecute Hillary for her Clinton Foundation crimes. Somehow, I do not think that Donald has it in his heart to do that to Hillary.

Trash-talking during a campaign is one thing, and making it really happen is quite another. Don’t forget, he has known them both for many years. Rudy has already said (publicly) that getting Hillary in an ‘orange suit’ would be one of his top priorities. Ted Cruz still wants a career in politics, so it is very possible that like Paul Ryan, they realize that at this point, there is more to gain by working with Donald vs against him.

I don’t buy this. Cruz is an effective Senator with years of service ahead. AG is a dead end for politicians . 4 years ? He was on the civil side as a solicitor general in texas but read his bio fro WIKI here:Cruz graduated from Princeton University, New Jersey, in 1992, and from Harvard Law School, Massachusetts, in 1995. From 1999 to 2003, he served in various political appointee positions: the Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the United States Department of Justice, and a Domestic Policy Advisor to George W. Bush on the 2000 George W. Bush Presidential campaign.

“Cruz served as Solicitor General of Texas, from 2003 to 2008, appointed by Texas Attorney General, Greg Abbott. He was the first Hispanic, and the longest-serving, Solicitor General in Texas history. From 2004 to 2009, Cruz was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas, where he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation.”

This man is looking at SCOTUS in the all important scalia seat. That seat is special — it is the pillar of conservative constitutional thinking. I may be wrong but why would he give up a long career raising hell in the Senate for a short gig as AG when he has no great background in criminal jurisprudence. I’m just sayin. I think that would be crazy for Cruz and Stupid for Trump. Trump pick SCOTUS day 1 after swearing in . He has not interviewed any of the so called “20” this is a special seat and time in history!! Cruz for the Scalia seat!! Trey Gowdy for AG!!

Cruz needs to stay in the Senate. If anything he should be a Supreme Court nominee.

Cruz would be a very good pick for AG.

The Justice Department is ground zero in the Left’s effort to impose its ideology on the country.

It’s going to take a tremendous amount of effort to turn it around.

There are going to be a million influences, subtle and otherwise, to try to steer the new administration away from changes to get us back to a constitutional government that respects federalism and is not trying to social engineer the population.

We need a conservative hedgehog in there, someone who is not going to back down from a total vicious attack from the media, from legal special interest lobbies and even from bar associations.

Cruz is used to taking tremendous abuse and not backing down, and making articulate, reasoned arguments to support his position in the face of unfair attacks.

And he is as knowledgeable as anyone about the many doctrines that need to be reversed in the DOJ and would appoint strong subordinates as well and actively supervise them.

One of the overlooked reasons for prosecuting the Clintons is that it may be the final nail in the coffin for the spin machine known as the MSM. The public needs to know just how crooked the Left is and how unethical the press has been in covering up their crimes.

One commenter at Conservative Treehouse made good point,

After the stunts Cruz pulled or allowed to be pulled by his people in primaries and Cruz speaking at convention and not endorsing Trump,

Trump would be wise to not place Cruz in any position that would be able to look into or have power over Trump.

No. Cruz wants to be president. If he leaves the Senate to become AG then he’ll never hold elective office again and will have no stepping-stone to the presidency. Nothing in it for Cruz at all...and you know Cruz is out for only himself.

The most important task the Trump Administration has is to restore the rule of law.

We need Rudy Giuliani for AG. The systemic lawlessness of the demoncrat party needs an independent tribunal, too.

Cruz needs to charged with felony fraud for signing the affaidavit that he’s a NBC. Same with Ogabe.

I’m sick of this sh!t.
