I know a Jewish man who as a boy stripped tin roofs off abandoned Jewish homes for scrap metal to fashion tin wares using his dead father’s tools. This was after surviving in bunkers for 18 months. He knew stealing wasn’t right but felt he had to make a living. He was 13 at the time.
