Syria’s Bashar al-Assad said in an interview aired that Donald Trump will be a “natural ally” if the United States president-elect fulfils his pledge to fight “terrorists”.
“We cannot tell anything about what he’s going to do, but if... he is going to fight the terrorists, of course we are going to be ally, natural ally in that regard with the Russian, with the Iranian, with many other countries,” the Syrian president told Portugal’s RTP state television on Tuesday.

Trump will likely end military support to the Syrian opposition – a stance that he took during his campaign trail – he said during an interview with the Wall Street Journal last week, claiming that “we [US] have no idea who these people are.”
“I’ve had an opposite view of many people regarding Syria,” Trump told the US based paper. “My attitude was you’re fighting Syria, Syria is fighting ISIS, and you have to get rid of ISIS. Russia is now totally aligned with Syria, and now you have Iran, which is becoming powerful, because of us, is aligned with Syria.”
Assad must be breathing a huge sigh of relief.
Assad’s comment is an indictment of Obama.
My first impulse is that any enemy of Obama and Hillary can’t be all bad.
Kill the savages first,...
then worry about the semi-savages...if necessary.
In war, civilians die. I’m not convinced Assad is all that bad. He’s not much worst than other ME leaders we call allies
We have seen in Libya, and briefly in Egypt what happens when the strongman is overthrown. Chaos.
Good message from Assad.
To defeat ISIS, al Qaeda and the myriad other Sunni Islamist ‘rebels’ a pragmatic level-headed cooperation between all forces invested in defeating the terrorists is needed.
In this regard the US shares a common goal with Russia, Syria, the Kurds, Iran, Iraq and Lebanon.
Our so called ‘allies’ Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have proven to be our enemies by nourishing the jihadis in countless ways.
Assad helped create ISIS by allowing Krekar and Zarqawi to operate through Syria while funneling recruits into Iraq to fight the US.
John McCain will be unhappy. His support for terrorist is one more reason he should be tried for treason along with Hillary.
