The Palestinian Authority is furious over a proposed law that would prohibit places of worship from using a loudspeaker system, and threatened to take Israel to the UN Security Council.
A Hamas representative called the bill "a dangerous and provocative development. Any interference on the part of the Israelis will be met with disaster. No one is allowed to interfere with our religious rituals."
On Sunday, the "Muezzin Law" was approved by the Ministerial Committee for Legislation. The law was initiated by MK Motti Yogev (Jewish Home) and other Knesset members, and came after Israeli citizens complained about the disruption to their quality of life and daily activities that the muezzins blasting on loudspeakers in neighboring towns and adjacent neighborhoods were causing them. The proposal still has to pass the legislative procedure before it becomes law.
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas warned Israel of the "consequences" of passing the law, and told Israel the law would cause a "disaster."
Abbas' spokesman, Nabil Abu Roudina, said the PA would turn to the UN Security Council, as well as other international bodies.

Some are ask how this differs from Sunday morning church bells. The difference is it happens every damn day.

Christians pray on Sunday only, no? Church bells can ring every hour but there is no wailing, bellyaching, moaning, groaning call to prayer the way the Muslims do it. It is a pain in the arse and keeps non-Muslims up all night and day...besides which, traditionally, the Muslims in Israel use their mosques as ammo dumps or sniper posts...
Also, church bells are melodious and meant to soothe as they summon worshipers. In the Old City of Jerusalem, they are part of the daily rhythm. What a muezzin call basically is is one loud, angry bellow, made especially loud on Jewish holidays here in Israel. You have no concept of it unless you’ve heard the Muezzin in Hevron on Yom Kipur. Its purpose is to intimidate, drown out and dominate. They do it first thing at 4 am, and at midday, afternoon, sunset and 90 minutes after sunset. It’s always obnoxious, and only occasionally musical.
I know. Plus church bells are naturally acoustical without any electronic amplification.
It is also different in that the musdog call to prayer is EXTREMELY unbelievably loud. The do it 5 times a day including the middle of the night.
We were in Jordan a month ago; everyone gets up at 5:00 A.M.

It was fine when they had one. Then they built like ten towers in east Jerusalem, blaring them at 4:30 in the morning.
Got so bad, it’s a thing now to put huge sound systems on roofs and Shema at them right back. It’s a sound war now and really, everyone could hear the one tower, so they did this just to be obnoxious.
It appears that the so-called Palestinians and the UN have yet to realize their world is about to undergo a significant adjustment in only 67 days.
The Koran never mentions loudspeakers. But cheer up Muslims. Grab your child bride, rape her, and beat her. That ought to make you feel better.

How can all you people complain? Obama said the Muslim call to prayer is the most beautiful sound in the world.
Jews require an all-male quorum (”minyan” of 10 men), 3 times a day most of the week and then on Friday night and then again on Saturday, the Sabbath, (Shabbat) they pray as a community.
Muslims pray 5 times a day...
