The Trump Effect: Psychologists warn that children are watching

As Americans adjust to the reality of Donald Trump’s election victory, their reactions and behavior are being closely watched and studied — by the children in their lives.

Long before Election Day, experts speculated about the long-term ramifications that the tumultuous and unusually nasty campaign would have on children and adolescents.

“Language and rhetoric, unquestionably, have a really important effect on children,” says Dr. Barbara Greenberg, a clinical psychologist who specializes in adolescents, children, teens and families. “Observational learning — watching what other people do and say — is the most effective kind of learning.” Saturation coverage of this campaign, particularly hours and hours of Trump rallies, certainly offered ample opportunity for observational learning.

On election night, Yahoo News hosted the children of staff members and guests, asking them to color in a map of the United States in real time, as results came in and as Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric led the team coverage of the race. The kids, ranging in age from 4 to 14, used red or blue chalk to color states, depending on the party of the candidate who won each state.

Early in the night, the children relaxed in the studio, listening to popular music and practicing breakdancing moves. They cheered and clamored for the blue chalk when New York and Illinois were called for Clinton at 9 p.m., but groaned when Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming were called in favor of Trump.

“You can tell we all pretty much like Hillary Clinton,” one preteen girl said, but there were some Trump enthusiasts. One little girl joked, to a Hillary supporter, that she was afraid of getting cooties from her.

As the night progressed, the tone shifted from cautious optimism to anxiety.

Liberals have long been in need of psychological help; now they need emergency intervention.

So it’s the Trump camp that will be broadcasting the stuff that kids need to be protected from?

This is the reason the DNC is sponsoring riots.

Because they believe it will send children a message

Outrageous hypocracy by the media which pummels our children with the most vile programming 24/7, and parents are not controlling the remote. It is obvious that children afraid of Trump are only reflecting what their parents are feeling. Mommy and Daddy need to grow up.

A lot of Hillary Clinton Attack ads would most DEFINITELY scare the putty out of a child. Tell them to turn off TV, especially the mainstream media, just spend time with momma and daddy and they should be ok.

How do you think all these young rioters know they can get away with it?

They were watching Rodney King riots 25 years ago.

“As the night progressed, the tone shifted from cautious optimism to anxiety.” - Maybe some of the younger kids - like the 4 year old - were simply exhausted and wanted to go to sleep.

Do children watch prime time TV? Do they go to the movies? Do they listen to rap? Did children hear about Bill Clinton’s escapades? Did the children notice Hillary’s treasonous behavior?

Why aren’t these fools concerned with that kind of cultural rot and Clinton behavior?

This narrative about the children is so dishonest... which candidates and president hangs out with rappers using cuss words and which candidates are supported by Muslims who treat woman and minorities as second class citizens and throws gays off roofs, which party thinks its OK to kill babies, and covet other peoples goods, who are the ones who think lying is justified and there should be two sets of rules , one for the peasants and one for the upper class, and that people should not be allowed to defend themselves with weapons let alone words, ... ? Which party thinks that teaching kids about Christian values is not a good idea.....? Just nonsense that Trump’s victory is harmful to children,,,

Psychologists don’t like Trump because if the kids emulate Trump, they might not grow to become limp-wristed faggots.

It’s way past time for American children to learn what it means to be an American and to learn about and respect our Constitution and our proud history! The government schools in conjunction with the NEA and Liberal textbooks have brainwashed millions of children for decades via Liberal propaganda. It’s time American parents opened their eyes to the truth and demand the Liberal brainwashing be stopped.

From “A Nation At Risk” 1983 (Education Report commissioned by President Ronald Reagan):

“...If an unfriendly foreign power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war...We have, in effect, been committing an act of unthinking, unilateral educational disarmament....”

I had the honor of helping this Committee back in 1983 by providing reams of examples from the public school system my children attended. The same curriculum and textbooks were also used throughout the country.

The party of trannies, pedophilia and satanism is going to give lectures on the psychological impacts from a Trump election?

Not even Trump could build enough insane asylums needed for all these leftist loonballs

Exactly.

This “ children” nonsense is some focused tested communist bullshit that I heard some unhinged CPC member using on CNN last night.

Must have said Trump was bad for the children 75 times in 5 minutes.

Abortion is bad for children, not Trump.

Smash the Left!

Hey Greenberg, you mean like the language and rhetoric children hear everyday out of the mouths of other children? Or perhaps you mean the language and rhetoric of their fowl-mouthed parents? Or maybe you mean the filthy language and rhetoric they hear on TV and at the local movie theater? GET REAL YOU UNDER-EDUCATED TWIT!
