I like the Chinese saying that the best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago; the second best time is now.

I guess I’m never going to be a real thrifty person; but I spend a lot wiser now, at least ;-)

You’re probably right. You never know.

My redhead bride of 24 years is my beloved. Life is good.

I try to tell this to the young people I meet. You just get so much more comfortable in your skin, as you age; and you know yourself better; know better how to spend your time doing the things that really please you; and your emotional and intellectual aspects become much deeper and more complex. You also enjoy and appreciate other people a lot more.

I’d like to have a young spine again ;-) but otherwise I wouldn’t want to be young again. It was tiring, too much trial-and-error, and I just didn’t get as much plain pleasure out of living as I do now.

I agree. I am much more comfortable about things. But there are certain do-overs.

I would have set certain expectations much lower.

Now I have little to no expectations.

No smoking or drinking and would have went to Ohio early on to hunt down my current wife - the only way to make our marriage better would be to have started it 20 years earlier...

Probably a lot. Would just have to take time and make sure which ones would have been important.

Not sharing this core belief with two so precious to me is my greatest heartbreak. It grieves me daily.

It's never too late! Kids can rebel but later see the light as they mature. Keep them in your prayers. St. Augustine's mother prayed for her son almost 20 years before he became a Christian -- and eventually even became a doctor of the Catholic Church.
