Indians' World Series Champions Gear Will Be Destroyed — Not Donated [wonder why?]

Typically, as you may be aware, all of the null-and-void merchandise that follows failed presidential campaigns and dashed Super Bowl hopes tends to be shipped en masse to the Third World, to developing countries in need of basic goods like clothing. ... Surely there are a few families in the world who could use a couple extra T-shirts, yeah?

...

“In past years we have used World Vision, but we have moved our policy to destroying the merchandise,” MLB’s Matt Bourne told HuffPost. “The reason is to protect the team from inaccurate merchandise being available or visible in the general marketplace.”

Protect the team?

Why now, all of the sudden?

Could it be that grinning Indian? (roll eyes)

Full(er) disclosure: My mother has told me in the past that she and I have a Choptank Injun chief in our woodshed, and even she ridicules the controversy over Indian mascots.

No Indian Native American should be depicted as grinning because of white racism. /s

How many people have their commemorative “Madame President”copy of Newsweek? That would be worth something on eBay like an original “Dewey defeats Truman” newspaper or a hundred trillion Zimbuck bill.

Add the letters “AL” and it’s all good.

It’ll give him tons of street cred as a die-hard Indians fan.

Hey, I'm still waiting for Beanie Babies to make a comeback.

Oh, and Elvis and Gone With the Wind decorative plates, too.

Don't worry. There are tons of "I Love President Hillary Clinton" T-shirts being packed up for shipment to third world countries.

I sometimes call the junior circuit the Paul Simon League (as in "You Can Call Me Al"). :))

When I was a boy, the Minor League West Haven, CT franchise were the West Haven Yankees, of the Eastern League. The New Haven Register would print headlines describing the games, referring to them as "EL YANKS". I figured they must have been the Spanish Yankees team.
