Priority 1 - stop the influx (wall and whatever else is necessary)
Priority 2 - deport all the ones in prison, gangs ASAP
Priority 3 - deport those on welfare
Priority 4 - deport those that don’t speak english
The rest should be self sufficient, I don’t know how much I would bother with them. Practically speaking at that point the problem is pretty handled.
I tend to agree with you. Some illegal aliens actually have been a positive element in the US. Hardworking and religious. Some have started businesses and in some urban areas it has been illegals who have moved into and fixed up blighted areas.
The criminal element in prison must go immediately. Those with criminal records or gang affiliations but who are not incarcerated should be deported asap also. After that I personally would look at a sliding scale of leniency based upon what contributions you have made to the betterment of the country and if you had actively tried to become a productive member of society (job, english speaking, no welfare, etc.)
You know, when my wife came here, not even 20 years ago, I had to GUARANTEE to support her (with proof of assets, income, etc. Submitting 3 years of tax returns was only part of it.)
