e still dont know who will win the electoral college, although as I write this it looks incredibly, horribly as if the odds now favor Donald J. Trump. What we do know is that people like me, and probably like most readers of The New York Times, truly didnt understand the country we live in. We thought that our fellow citizens would not, in the end, vote for a candidate so manifestly unqualified for high office, so temperamentally unsound, so scary yet ludicrous.

in the words of a soon to be former president “we won, get over it”.
Unknown to you Paul, unknown to you.
I’m really having a good time going around and reading the ridiculous articles, posts, etc. of these people. Is that wrong of me? Gloating?
Brilliant economist? BS. He’s a CAT MAN. (apologies to FReeper males who like cats)
>>Brillant economist knucklehead at everything else.
He’s a Keynesian.. How can he be a “brilliant economist” when he clearly doesn’t *understand* economics?
I thought he DID understand the country: bigots, racists, clinging to their guns and religion. Isn’t that why Obama made all those executive orders?
He shouldn't talk about his own candidate, Hillary like that.
And once again, the New York Times illustrates the truth of my beloved tag line. Once again, THANKS.
Whaaaaaaah!
“We thought that the great majority of Americans valued democratic norms and the rule of law.”
Rule of law?!
What a joke!
I would suggest that Paul Krugman take a year off....get into a camper and drive the length of the US....talking to real people and not ‘insiders’. He might be shocked at the behavior and expectations of people outside of the New York Times.
I think America is tired of the qualifications you and the ruling “Elite” choose. Those are the qualifications that have just about destroyed America.
Paul, you are soon to learn that ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
Your Country Paul.
Don’t you ever reference me in anything you write ever again.
Although I don’t know Krugman, I know many people like him who live in an echo chamber where they rarely encounter anyone with whom they disagree. They can’t fathom the thought that their opinions and beliefs might be wrong.
To all these people who think Trump was such a flawed candidate I say, why would you not hear us when we told you Obama was a pot-smoking, Alinsky-loving, America-hating, radical Muslim-loving, friend of a bomber, who had a very short resume outside of community organizing? All these shortcomings were known about him, yet his supporters were blind to his manifest unsuitability to lead this great country.
LOLOLOLOL!!!
