“Yes. Voted against this.

It is worded deceptively to fool the gullible Gringos (um, me).”

*****

BINGO. How the radio ads were played was just pure BS.

It’s “to increase competition in a global economy with a 2nd language”...when a kid was narrating it, who Im sure didnt know what he was reading.

California is a State in the United States of America. We speak American English here!!!!

When California became a state of the U.S. in 1850, its constitutional convention was conducted both in Spanish and in English, and the original state constitution of 1850 was enacted in both languages.

The Progressives have taken us back to 1850.

I imagine the African Americans are quite concerned about that.

That 1850 Constitution also abolished slavery in California.

"We don’t need it."

So very wrong. Politics aside, California may be the only indispensable state.

Exactly. Unlike Prop 227, when everyone understood that it was an up-or-down vote on bilingual education, this thing is incredibly deceptive. The pro-58 radio ads emphasize everyone learning English. The uninformed would think that this is a measure to teach non-English speakers English. Who would oppose that? Unfortunately, there seems to be ZERO money on the anti-58 side. I’ve yet to see or hear a single ad making the case against this. As such, it’s almost certainly a lock to pass tomorrow.

One of the first things that the Soviets realized was crippling to them vs many other countries in the world was the language problem - over 160 languages were spoken in the USSR. They forced the Russian language everywhere and no more non-Russian typewriters (except a few English) typewriters were made available for sale during that period AFAIK.

So, liberals are busily working against one of the things that unites us.

What is a dual immersion school?

I’m in favor of English immersion for non-English speaking kids——it works, and has done so for 150 years.

Next, the traffic signs go exclusively to Spanish in heavily Hispanic neighborhoods.

I had a little fun one afternoon. After patronizing the local La Salsa for dinner after skating for more than a year, the employees decided to conduct business with me in Spanish instead of English. I obliged by ordering my food in Welsh. The cashier looked perplexed. I suggested we conduct business in English as we have for the last year. I'm just as capable of switching to a language you don't understand...probably 3 or 4 due to frequent travel to French, German and Italian speaking areas. I was prepared with Turkish if Welsh didn't get the message across.

Making English the official language should be added to Trump’s ever growing list of things to do.

But the primary thrust of the proposition is clear: Students from non-English homes will find it far easier to have their children be primarily taught in their native tongue, while spending far less time learning English.

The next step will be to cede part of southern California to Mexico.

You voted for this Trojan horse?

They put reference to English in there just to bamboozle people. This is worse than bilingual ed. It actually forces English speakers to learn Spanish!

The Spanish-speaking people in California back then were Californios, civilized people who had been there for centuries!

But they—and other Californians—have been swamped out by Chicano immigrants, many of who are La Raza members and/or came her illegally!!

“We speak American English here!!!” PHOOEY!!!!

“Making English the official language should be added to Trump’s ever growing list of things to do.”

Our Constitution is very good, but it isn’t perfect. The founders of this country probably never even considered this, because it was too obvious. It needs to be an amendment. It will also save a great deal of money.

Borders, Language, Culture

Protect our borders.

Insist that English be spoken in schools, the workplace, and government.

Slow or stop immigration for a defined period of time (10-20 years) — as has been done multiple times in the past — and insist immigrants assimilate and adopt the unique American culture.

If we can’t do these things, we will cease being a sovereign nation.
