U.S. equities kicked off the week on a high note, opening sharply higher on Monday after the FBI again cleared Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton over her use of a private server. The Dow Jones industrial average quickly rose more than 250 points.
"In terms of the market and its possible response on Wednesday, today's reaction to the FBI news is obvious evidence that market participants have wrapped up the world in a nice and easy box," said Peter Boockvar, chief market analyst at The Lindsey Group.
"Hillary wins, good for stocks. Trump wins, bad for stocks. But, anyone who thinks deeper than this knows that the response is going to be much more nuanced. Ask any owner of a healthcare, financial or defense stock," he said in a note.

Ain't it amazing? Same for payroll taxes. Kaine tried to raise them on households making 17 grand! You better believe Hillary is gonna kill us with taxes if she wins. Yet people vote for her because "Trump doesn't respect women".
As if HIllary or Bill care about women.
Big Media will wait as long as possible before conceding for their master.
“Big Media will wait as long as possible before conceding for their master.”
Usually on election night everyone wants to be the first to declare the winner, yet, I sense this year they will wait as long as possible under threat they had better do so.
Anyone who doesn't see that is overcome by greed, stupid, or in massive denial.
By the way, the day prior to the Dow jump, the futures were up about 200 points. Someone on Wall Street ALREADY knew what the news was going to be. The corruption goes all the way to the top so the big boys can make money. The corruption in this nation is total. The finger is beginning to write upon the wall.
It’s not a manipulation. Financial markets don’t like instability, and any potential prosecution of a major political figure represents instability regardless of which candidate wins.
I raked some leaves this weekend and now the DOW is up 250 points.
Correlation does not equal causation.
“It is a huge embarrassment. It shows only that the FBI can be manipulated at will by the Democrats.”
John Roberts come to mind.
I’m sure Comey is compromised. I get the impression every Democrat appointee is selected after careful screening to ensure they only pick those that they can manipulate by whatever means necessary.
I was out on the ledge this morning and called my broker. He says it’s about uncertainty rather than Hillary.
Hey, I raked some leaves too, so now we have TWO data points: a STRONGER correlation!
“Wall Street is terrified that their gravy train will come to an end.”
Isn’t this the same thing that created the dependant Dim base in the first place? Stop the handouts. Let them sink or swim based on their own merit and they will ultimately thank you. Not at first, though.
I disagree with that theory. One, the market rallied immediately after the FBI let Hillary off the hook and it fell when she looked to be in serious trouble. Secondly, the folks in the Wall Street casino are no longer the good guys, but are crony capitalists at best, and corrupt shills at worst.
Coincidence is not causation.
THe "high speed computerized tradeers" sponsored by the big wirehouses have controlled the market for quite sometime now.
Can you say "rigged?"
Who ever is elected.. the market is going to ADJUST itself downward.
I think that you said it all right there in the “Dim Base”.
It now consists of the Ultra Rich and the Very Poor with the middle class getting left out in the cold. Add the media establishment to that and they have effectively gained control of the money and the message.
For the first time, we have someone who yelled loud enough to be heard over the propagandists and I hope the Very Poor realizes that their lot will never improve if they keep following the same old party that conspires to keep them down.
Wall street doesn’t like change.
Yep!
He’s correct.
The FBI Director says there is no reason to indict her after his folks went through the emails. What about that do you not understand?
Maybe it’s because that EVIL, VILE Janet Reno died.
