Speaking of which, this one's been awfully quiet lately
If enough of them switch from Hillary to Bernie, the top three vote getters go to the house—could be interesting
The founding fathers also did not want someone to be President who was not a natural born citizen.
Naturally a US citizen because they could not be anything else, born here of citizen parents.
Obama told us he was born a British subject.
I am quite certain that is not what they had in mind, they specifically exempted themselves knowing there could not be any natural born citizens for at least 35 years.
If the elector were anyone but a Sanders supporter, he might have realized that voting for Hillary is an act of giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
I hope it’s not close enough for these two to make a difference, but wouldn’t it be funny if they did?
They are entirely within their rights. The electors elect teh president; we just elect the electors.
BTW, if you ever serve as an elector, you can use “The Honorable” the rest of your life.
But if neither Trump nor Clinton were to get 270 electoral votes, the House of Representatives would choose the president. And the House is virtually certain to remain Republican.
In any case, they wouldn’t elect Hillary — so if that’s their plan, it’s a dumb one.
No Republican elector is going to vote for Clinton. I’d could see a few not for voting for Trump though.
Me too
The electoral college is not outdated. Do you think X would go to New Hampshire or to Iowa if it was just popular votes? They would go to Texas, Florida and other high population States....
One or two Clinton Electors vote for Bernie. A dozen or so Trump Electors vote for Paul Ryan. After Congress votes, President Ryan takes the Oath of Office. What could go wrong? From the inside the Beltway perspective, that looks like a perfect plan.
