The Clinton Campaign at Obama Justice

Emails on WikiLeaks show a top federal lawyer giving Hillary a quiet heads up.

Kimberley A. Strassel

The most obnoxious spin of the 2016 campaign came this week, as Democrats, their media allies and even President Obama accused the FBI of stacking the election. It’s an extraordinary claim, coming as it does from the same crew that has—we now know—been stacking the election all along in the corridors of the Justice Department.

This is the true November surprise. For four months, FBI Director James Comey has been the public face of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server. He played that role so well, putting the FBI so front and center, that the country forgot about Mr. Comey’s bosses. Revelations this week build the case that President Obama’s politicized Justice Department has been pulling strings and flacking for Mrs. Clinton all along.

One piece of evidence comes from WikiLeaks, in a hacked email between the chairman of the Clinton campaign, John Podesta, and Assistant Attorney General Peter Kadzik. It was sent in May of 2015 via a private Gmail account, which has become the favored way for Obama employees to hide communications from the public. “Heads up,” Mr. Kadzik warned, informing the campaign about a coming hearing and a recent legal filing about Mrs. Clinton’s emails.

Don’t let Mr. Kadzik’s fancy title fool you: He is a Clinton partisan. Before joining the Justice Department in 2013, Mr. Kadzik spent 30 years at the (now-closed) law firm Dickstein Shapiro, engaging Democratic causes—and Clinton causes. Mr. Kadzik’s wife, Amy Weiss, was deputy press secretary in Bill Clinton’s White House and a communications director for the Democratic National Committee. Mr. Kadzik also represented the DNC.

"What the email reveals is the mind-set of the senior officials at the Justice Department. They are in it to win it for Hillary. They have taken a cue from their boss, the president, who has felt free to personally absolve Mrs. Clinton, no matter how inappropriate that is.

Those leaders include Leslie Caldwell, head of the Criminal Division, an antibusiness activist tapped by Mr. Obama in 2014. Benjamin Mizer, who leads the Civil Division, went to bat for Mrs. Clinton last year in Freedom of Information Act litigation over her emails. He cowrote a brief insisting her email production had been “over-inclusive” and arguing there was no evidence that she had “intentionally deleted” public records."

Perhaps we need to rename this to the “Department of Injustice”?

What Does it Take to Bring Hillary Clinton to Justice?

by Pepe Escobar

Nov 4, 2016

Virtually the whole planet holds its collective breath at the prospect of Hillary Clinton possibly becoming the next President of the United States (POTUS).

How’s that humanly possible, as the (daily) Bonfire of The Scandals – relentlessly fed by WikiLeaks revelations and now converging FBI investigations – can now be seen from interstellar space?

It’s possible because Hillary Clinton, slouching through a paroxysm of manufactured hysteria, is supported by virtually the whole US establishment, a consensual neocon/neoliberalcon War Party/Wall Street/corporate media axis.

But History has a tendency to show us there’s always a straw that breaks the camel’s back.

This could be it – as revealed by WikiLeaks; March 2, 2015, the day when John Podesta wrote, “we are going to have to dump all those emails.”

That happened to be the exact same day it was revealed Hillary Clinton had used a personal email server as Secretary of State.

Yet this reveals only part of the puzzle. There’s got to be a response to Podesta’s email – which WikiLeaks may, or may not, leak in the next few days before the election. If the back and forth clearly shows intent (to mislead), then we’ve got a 100 percent smoking gun: the whole Clinton (cash) machine narrative – according to which Hillary just deleted “personal”emails – crumbles like the ultimate House of Cards.

Moreover, that would unveil what was from the start the privileged Clinton machine strategy: to thwart the subsequent internal State Dept. and FBI investigations.

“Obama Justice”. Seems like an oxymoron.

If you copy and paste the title into Google, you can read a few more paragraphs before you have to go to WSJ’s site. I think they contain the meat.

“If you copy and paste the title into Google, you can read a few more paragraphs before you have to go to WSJ’s site. I think they contain the meat.”

Correct.

I usually put a line in WSJ story posts for readers to do that.

Thanks

The following, immediately preceding your money quote:

The Justice Department has tried to dismiss Mr. Kadzik’s tip-off to the Clinton campaign as a note “about public information,” sent “in his personal capacity, not during work hours.” But Mr. Kadzik is a senior government official. He does not get to feed any information to a potential target of an investigation, at any hour of the day or night.

Report: DOJ Told The FBI’s Clinton Foundation Investigators To ‘Stand Down’

Chuck Ross
Reporter

Justice Department officials told FBI agents investigating the Clinton Foundation to “stand down” even though two confidential informants had provided information that agents believed was worth pursuing, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

Fox News is also reporting that the investigation of the Clinton family charity is now a “very high priority” at the FBI. Multiple people have been interviewed multiple times during the investigation, which began last summer.

Feds probing Clinton Foundation were told to ‘stand down’

By Bob Fredericks

November 3, 2016

FBI agents and federal prosecutors got into a bitter feud over whether to pursue a pay-to-play probe into the Clinton Foundation — and the fight went public Thursday when some of the combatants went rogue and leaked the dispute to the media.

The New York agents were determined to proceed after hearing secret recordings of an unidentified suspect in a public corruption probe talking about cash flowing into the foundation from foreign donors seeking favors from the State Department, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The field agents also spoke to informants and thought they had enough evidence to go after the family’s foundation — and possibly Hillary Clinton herself — but some of the bureau’s brass and prosecutors at the Justice Department dismissed the recordings as hearsay, sources involved with the case told the Journal.
