Mexico should be a very prosperous country. It has oil, a great climate for tourism and agriculture and hard-working people. Its corrupt government and oligarchy of afabulously wealthy few( note Carlos Slim, major investor in the NYTimes) keep the majority of he population poor. A Trump administration may also make Mexico great for its own people.
Completely correct.
Mexico could become one of THE most prosperous countries in all of Latin America if they can break the hold of the powerful oligarchs that control the country (starting with Carlos Slim Helu). The country has huge mineral and agricultural resources waiting to be fully exploited, but the oligarchs are holding it all back.
Per the TED talk the six killer apps of prosperity:
One, competition. - corruption prevents this
Two, the scientific revolution.
Three, property rights. - Mexico lacks for the average Jose
Four, modern medicine.
Five, the consumer society.
And six, the work ethic.
