Premium Motorsports announced Wednesday that Reed Sorenson’s No. 55 car will be branded in support of Donald Trump’s campaign at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Election Day is two days later.

Sorenson, who sits 39th in the Sprint Cup Series standings, usually drives an unsponsored ride on Sundays. This week, his Toyota Camry will feature a patriotic paint scheme. The primarily white car features a starred ribbon running along the sides, with Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again” displayed on the hood and back of the car.

Thank you Premium Motorsports and driver Reed Sorenson for providing Trump/Pence with a few hours of free TV advertising this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

I am going to have to go see if this paint scheme with be available on a die-cast to add to my collection.

NASCAR gives Donald Trump a last-minute campaign boost

It's a very good bet that you would be hard pressed to find ANYONE in the NASCAR Nation supporting the Beast.

I think the NFL is considering Trump/Pence kneepads so players don’t hurt themselves falling to the ground when the national anthem starts.

Matt DiBennedetto, driver of the 83 Camry also has a special Texas paint scheme.

Back the Blue, honoring the Dallas police officers lost in the line of duty.

The Texas race will be a good prelude to voting on Tuesday.

Edit to my previous post... But at least the Camry can brag about being the “most ‘Built in America’ car”

But I am sure she has been a lifelong fan of NASCAR. Why I bet her father took her to the races all the time when she was a little girl!!!!!

Well, that is when he wasn't taking her to Cubs games, or was it Yankee's games? I get confused. She is a lifelong Cubs fan you know -- except when she was a lifelong Yankee's fan while she was running for Senate in NY.

I do believe that of all the street versions of the NASCAR makes, Toyota has the largest American-sourced content.

From 2007

"The civilian versions of the three cars that compete in the NASCAR Nextel Cup series — the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Dodge Charger and Ford Fusion — are built either in Canada (the Charger and the Monte Carlo) or Mexico (the Fusion). Meanwhile more than 75 percent of the parts used here by Toyota (and 98 percent of the steel) comes from U.S. suppliers....."
IIRC there were several articles about it when Toyota made its debut.

Back in 1998 or so, I taught my then 2 year old son to look at a matchbox sized die-cast and tell me who the driver is. We have a video somewhere of him naming 20-25 drivers by their cars.

Soon after, we went to a race at Michigan Speedway for a corporate event. We had a large tent where my wife stayed with him during the race, but before that, we went trackside during Cup practice. I took him down to the catchfence and held him us as Mark Martin came out of turn 3 and toward us at turn 4. My son looked out over the track and his eyes got really wide seeing a huge, full sized Matchbox car come screaming at him at 180 mph. He looks at me and said “That’s Mark Martin!...And that’s Jeff Gordon!” Man, was that ever cool.
