Last week, someone in the know said that when a PD is looking at info in a computer, they automatically make a backup of everything. Then they work from the backup device, leaving the original intact. So it sounds like there’s at least one backup. Probably two backups, considering NC was/is working on the Weiner case, too.
The way I would do it would be to copy the raw disk onto another disk. that way there is the possibility that parts of deleted files and deleted file metadata can be recovered. Raw disk images tend to be much larger than thumb drive capacities.
