I've been reading about this guy for a month or so. He was a typical ‘geek’ and was very caught up and diligent in learning about cyber warfare. From the way it sounds, he brought tons of stuff home to study and advance himself. He was definitely a hoarder and it was illegal. At the risk of sounding naive, I don't believe this guy had bad intentions. His notes were more on par with studying and learning. I've been reading stories about those who he interacted with - he was completely immersed in trying to be the best in his field.

No, her crimes should not let him off the hook. Her crimes should be judged by themselves, by the statutes. She is clearly a felon and most likely guilty of treason.
