Trumps lead shrinks to 1 point, however, in a head-to-head matchup with Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee.
I'm not real sure why they're including that line. The ballot has Johnson and Stein on it, so it's gonna be at least 4 candidates.
There is no ballot with only 2 candidates on it.

It’s the classic — “If we had ham, we could make ham and cheese sandwiches. If we had cheese.”
or
“Hillary isn’t losing too badly in this election. If half the candidates were dropped off the ballot.”

Personally, I think any dedicated leftists, RINOs, or other folks like that who can't bring themselves to vote for Trump should vote for Johnson or Stein to send a message to the elite corrupt politicians. I have encouraged people with those convictions to rise up and vote against Hillary Clinton, even if they don't support Trump.

Wasn’t Clinton up in New Hampshire by about four to five points just a few days ago?

Maybe not a great indicator but it's better than guessing.

I suppose the thinking is that many people, when they are standing in the booth with a ballot in front of them, will acquiesce to the reality that only Clinton or Trump can win, and will break accordingly. That said, a certain number of people will always vote 3rd party, perhaps more this time around than was common in the past.
