A new examination of skeletal remains found on a remote Pacific island three years after the trailblazing pilot went missing suggest she died as a castaway not in a plane crash, the International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery reported.

Without a soccer ball to name Wilson, no wonder she died!

They used to sell a brand of luggage called Amelia Earhart.
Really?? Like, you put it on a plane, and then it is never seen again??

Wasn’t there a Gilligan’s Island episode where she showed up?

TIGHAR has done some fascinating research into the disappearance of AE and their website is worth some time if you are so inclined...I’m convinced based on all of their evidence and research that she died as a castaway on Nikumaroro...

This poor lady... She died in a plane crash. Plain, simple facts are difficult for some people to grasp. Now if we could only find that Malaysian Airlines flight.... That would be interesting.

That’s pretty weak evidence. Basically they found a skeleton with arms a bit longer then average. How many of them are around?

I'll bet the family of Fred Noonan are surprised to hear that. What happened, did she drop him off somewhere else?

I've spent time on the TIGHAR website and like you, I believe she died as a castaway on Nikumaroro.
From the article, "TIGHAR plans to search the area [for the missing plane] with submarines next year - the 80th anniversary of Earhart's disappearance."
I think they'll be successful and the mystery will finally be over.

Had to Google Nikumaroro.
Apparently they have found some American bottles, cosmetics, and related items from the pre-War period on what is essentially an uninhabited island. The British tried to colonize it between 1938-63, but gave up due to unreliable supplies of fresh water.

Wasnt there a Gilligans Island episode where she showed up?Probably, everybody and their brother managed to make it to Gilligan's Island.

Yes, they actually solve the Amelia Earhart mystery at least once every year.

If this was true it shouldn’t be to hard to find her airplane.
