... Colorado now leads the country in past-month marijuana use by youth, with Washington not much further behind. Other states that have since legalized marijuana occupy 4th place (District of Columbia) and 5th place (Oregon). States with lax “medical marijuana” laws occupy 2nd and 3rd place (Vermont and Rhode Island, respectively).
Additionally, as explained in greater detail below, the laws have had significant negative impacts on public health and safety, such as:
* Rising rates of pot use by minors
* Increasing arrest rates of minors, especially black and Hispanic children
* Higher rates of traffic deaths from driving while high
* More marijuana-related poisonings and hospitalizations
* A persistent black market that may now involve increased Mexican cartel activity in Colorado

One argument for drug leagization that I always rejected was the one about how it would destroy the drug gangs.
Legalization.
Good. I support Colorado trying something new. That’s what Federalism is all about. One or two states try it, the rest should sit and watch for 5-10 years to see the effects.
These states that jump on the bandwagon because Colorado did it, we should too are idiots.

Marijuana legalization is on the ballot here in Florida thanks mostly to Morgan&Morgan (lawyers extraordinare! “FOR the people”) - hopefully all the retirees here will reject it .. we can only hope for the best .....
On the ballot here in MA as well. I expect it to pass, although I’m voting against it.
I’m waiting for the feds to re-think it at the national level. I think that’s coming.

I appreciate your open mind to this. But PLEASE do some reading on other assessments of this. Regardless, nobody can make any definitive judgments in EITHER position, as it’s way too early for either.

Not in our little County in California, Supervisors decided to get ahead of the game, the illegals and thieves all over the place. Destroying our hideaways in the Mountains all for Money, Last bust 23 illegal Asians tied to drug cartels in the Bay Area.
I really do not care if anyone harms himself using drugs. I simply celebrate the fact that they were able go out doing what they wanted.
I resent the fact that my liberties are threatened because someone wants to be a junkie.
I don’t need the governments permission because want some heart medicine or something for a sore foot.
I don’t like how the government uses drug laws to enrich themselves using civil forfeiture laws.
Free people don’t need the government to replace personal responsibility. Just the opposite.

Don’t blame Colorado for a federal issue.
The feds own the Mexican cartel issue, not Colorado.
Because there was no legislation. It was legalized by a ballot initiative.
Gary Johnson is the poster child for why pot should be limited to legitimate medical use only.
Guy has no short term memory left, terrible pot side effect.
