Former Democratic congressman Anthony Weiner is cooperating with authorities in the FBI investigation of his laptop that contains emails that prompted the Federal Bureau of Investigation to reopen its probe into Hillary Clinton's use of an unauthorized email server.

The news that Weiner is cooperating, reported by Fox News' Bret Baier on Sunday, would help law enforcement with the investigation, since officials didn't yet have a warrant to read through the material found on the device.

Though FBI Director James Comey told lawmakers Friday his agency found emails related to Hillary Clinton's private email server, he didn't yet have a warrant to read them.

As of Saturday night, the FBI had not received a search warrant from the Justice Department, an unnamed agency official told Yahoo News, but the agency was in talks to get one. When Comey wrote the letter, "he had no idea what was in the content of the emails," said one official....

Question for those closely following this story:

As I understand it:

1. The FBI (Weiner Investigators) has had the Weiner laptop sinced Oct 3 or so.

2. Comey was briefed on the contents of the laptop on October 28.

3. The NYPD had possession of the laptop prior to turning it over to the FBI.

Question: Is 3 above TRUE? If so, do we know when the NYPD came into possession of the laptop. That is, how long did the NYPD have to look at those files.

Another Question: How long has Rudy Giuliani known about all of this?

if you look in the prison system you will find a lot of prisoners that were victims of child abuse and have young children they feel guilty for not being great parents for. because it is socially exceptable to go after pedophiles in prison there are a lot of bad people that enjoy doing bad things that will go after a convicted pedophile knowing that the prison guards will not punish them also. wieners big problem is that he is famous and because he is famous he is even a bigger target who probably would end up murdered unless put in protective custody.

NYPD doesn't need to read them all in one sitting - there's 10 thousand of them - you just put them all on a thumb drive and read them at your leisure

Preet already empaneled a grand jury and got a warrant for both Weiner’s and Huma’s computers, phones, etc. It only applies to the NYPD Sex Crimes investigation, however. For the FBI to use this info in a separate case requires a search warrant specifically for that purpose.

Most likely the FBI gave him two choices. 1. Give us access to all email not related to the sexting case or 2. We get a warrant and you take the fall for possession of classified material.
