Congress requested Comey to report! Direct from a Congressional aide.
In person discussion ^ | 29 Oct 2016 | Alas Babylon!

Posted on 10/29/2016 2:58:32 PM PDT by Alas Babylon!

I was in a Walmart in Montgomery, Alabama and ran into a person I know who works for Martha Roby (R), who is on Trey Gowdy's committee.

He told me the democrat attack on Comey was BS because the committee was unhappy about Comey stopping the investigation, and could not get a good position from him on a number of matters that might change the status of the so-called investigation, such as the IT guy who tried to remove his posts at Reddit.com, etc.

Anyway, the staffer told me that at the end of the last meeting, they gave Comey an order, and even put it in writing, that if any other facts came out, that he was to inform them!

So now that he did, the dems and media are saying that he "violated" DOJ policy?

Informing Congress was/is his duty, especially in light of this order.

Use this to challenge the media every time they bring this up. Comey had an obligation to Congress, one that was actually specified to him.

And the penalty for disobeying that order for 2 more weeks would be?

Weigh that against the potential loss of the Presidency.

I don’t buy it.

BTW, I am very displeased with Ms. Roby. She was one of the RINOs who, upon hearing the Trump “Grab her by the ****” recording, held a press conference to denounce him and say she could no longer support Trump.

I gave her a piece of my mind then, and today, to her aide that I know. I won’t say what he told me, because that part he asked me to keep in condifence, but it has mollified me somewhat. I’m still going to write-in her TEA party opponent, Becky Gerritson.

"an obligation to Congress"

Like Eric Holder's subpoena from Congress to turn over F&F records? He is the only cabinet member in U.S. history to be held in contempt of Congress for failure to do so. Still waiting for that one to be respected. Congress doesn't count for sh!t any more.

Me neither. He’s broken his oath so many times what would one more have been?

And holder formally declared that any evidence of a political nature should not be released less than 60 days before the election.. (he must have known hillary was in trouble even then)

I dont think it was enforceable but no way comey gets in big trouble handing it in over two weeks late with clinton in office.

He’s in trouble with Trump either way.

Yes, good stuff. Freepers ARE reporters in the laterally connected peer to peer decentralized Age of Info.

A demand that he appear and withstand 2 hrs of scathing questioning followed by a lot of public posturing by the committee members.

We FReepers have known all along that if anybody in DC actually WANTED Hillary’s emails all they had to do was contact the NSA. It is pretty clear Weiner had some as “insurance” and he realized his insurance was about to expire thanks to Wikileaks.

Perhaps you’d buy it this way:

This administration has defied Congress in so many ways it seems inevitable they’d do it again. BUT...

Comey knows Trump is going to win.

AND the information they got off of the Weiner family’s devices is devastating. Think Huma sending classified emails to the Muslim Brotherhood level devastation.

When this comes out, with a Trump presidency and irate Congress, what then happens to Comey?

Obstruction of Justice for one.

By the way, Nixon’s Attorney General John Mitchell was sentenced to the federal prison at Maxwell AFB Prison, my last assignment in the USAF and in Montgomery, Alabama, for obstruction of justice:

From Wikipedia: Mitchell served only 19 months of his sentence at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, a minimum-security prison, before being released on parole for medical reasons.

Err... I served as Superintendent at the Communications Squadron at Maxwell the Air Force base, not the prison which is on the north side of the base!

Means nothing. Comey months ago said in writing and he referred to that language yesterday, if he came up with new relevant data then he would advise. Which he did.

Interesting thing is, it’s an “informal” DOJ policy.

Can you imagine, if DOJ finds out about a candidate being involved in murder but withholds the info until after the election ?

1. If the new information is big... Devastating... A body-blow to National Security (and I’m thinking it is)...

2. And the elites know that Trump is going to win...

Don’t you think they’d think about the new “teeth” (Donald J. Trump) that an enraged American public might unleash over this news?

Yeah Spineless, weak, vacilating GOPes. They are no longer relevant. The future needs heroic figures prepared to take on globalism, the lying MSM whores, political correctness and the disintegration of God and country.

I hear a lot of cynics here on Free Republic and to me this as is bad as posting all the time that Trump is going to lose.

I too am cynical of Congress doing something and showing backbone, but we’ve got to be there pushing, goading them on at all times. It’s not enough just to bitch about it on Free Republic.

In any case, I posted this NOT to say I think Congress would do/not do anything, but to counter what the democrats and press are saying about Comey violating policy, when, on the other hand, Congress specifically told him to inform them of new developments.

Comey is no hero of mine, nor is Martha Roby, but the democrats don’t have a useful leg to stand on in this.
