They’re not what you might think they are.

I think I understand what you mean. The Pirate Party questions the leadership of the elite, and questions their ties with corrupt big banks. I like that. The American movement Occupy Wall Street did the same. And I liked that.

But OWS quickly morphed into a chaotic and radical quasi-communist movement. That was not so good.

Their logo is pretty much the same as that of the German Pirate Party. Hardly a coincidence. A bit of social libertarianism there, with a dollop of internet anarchy. Think the “Pirate Bay” file sharing site. Probably where the German party got the idea from in the first place.

Whatever they are, they’re not Viking Pirates out to decimate their muzzie counterparts. I don’t believe Iceland has been inundated in that regard yet anyway.

Bottom line: Nothing to celebrate or get too much excited about.
