ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. The number of immigrants seeking drivers licenses in New Mexico remains on pace to reach a four-year high amid a deadline to adopt a new law.
Data obtained by The Associated Press through a records request showed 3,886 licenses were issued to foreign nationals from January to October.
Thats just shy of the 4,026 licenses granted to foreign nationals for all of 2015.
Officials said they believe the spike came because immigrants in the country illegally wanted to get New Mexico drivers licenses before the state adopts a new law before a Nov. 18 deadline.

Gov Susana Martinez gets a lot of deserved heat for shunning Trump, but deserves credit for fighting illegal driver’s licenses for her entire tenure. She brings it up every session, and the corrupt state dems shoot it down.
The licenses will come in handy for voting purposes, collecting welfare and other government benefits.
I will never understand why various states started giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens. How can any state ID be considered any sort of evidence of citizenship or legal status, when illegals can get them?
Don’t have time to look now. But does New Mexico have “motor voter?”
REPEAL MOTOR VOTER, it was just another Clinton SCAM on the American people
They need bodies. Here’s an example: NYS is bleeding jobs and taxpayers. Afer the last census, the state lost 2 House seats. The state needs warm bodies, preferably dependant, so they lavish welfare benefits, bennies like easy drivers licenses to attract people. In NYS, it’s harder for a reside t to get an in-state fishing, hunting licensemble than it is for anyone, legal or not, to vote. States need bodies. This is how they get them.
This will go on for a few years yet in NM. Existing licenses (including those by illegals) can be honored for another four years before they become invalid. Unfortunately Senor Illegal can register to vote by mail with just the following information:
Eligibility
You are eligible to vote in New Mexico if you:
Freepers if you see your state on this list, call your Representative....ask for some legislation in the coming year that will disallow this idiocy...if not interested, look at their voting record, pull your vote next election for that person and tell them why.
The exact terms vary by state. As of this writing in 2016, a total of 12 states plus the District of Columbia allow undocumented immigrants to obtain a driver's license. These 12 states include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
Unsure, but anyone who is registered to vote now, legal or illegal, will be on the election roles from now forward unless they don't vote for several consecutive elections.
Hey, gotta get those votes in for Hellary.
It's pretty obvious: A ploy used by Democrats to get illegals to register to vote. Our good buddy former Governor Bill Richardson got it passed in the early 2000's with the aid of a Rat legislature.
The second part of that process is not requiring an ID, photo or not, to vote. The Dem running for SOS opposes voter ID and also wants to once again allow straight party voting. You get illegals who can't read go to the polls and pull a single lever and you've got fraud. At my early voting polling place a Spanish speaking lady was available for non-English voters. All that is needed to identify you is your name, address and birth date and you are handed a ballot. No photo ID; no ID whatsoever needed.
