PHILADELPHIA (CBS) Economist Chris Butler discussed the rising cost of health insurance plans next year under the Affordable Care Act, saying he expects the populace to express more outrage as they learn they will be priced out of health care options.
Butler told Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT to expect more public demonstrations of anger as prices move upward.
Right now, I think you do have to say that A, its failing and that B, I think next year, youre going to have a bunch of people that dont get the subsidies that make the premiums a little bit more affordable that are just going to riot because its just too expensive for most people if you dont qualify for subsidies.

I’m okay with riots. As long as the police defend themselves as vigorously as necessarily to avoid any injuries to fellow cops and to other decent people, I don’t care what the looters do to themselves or to each other. If parasites want to riot over not enough free stuff, it’s time they showed who they are.
I am starting to think that Obama has been played by the insurance industry.
They pretended to go along with this thing, just as long as they could suck big subsidies out of it.
Now that it is on the verge of destroying them they are starting the riots, two weeks before an election.
Elect Trump, kill Obamacare, but keep the money you sucked out of it all those years. Fiendishly brilliant if I do say.
Rioters don’t have health insurance.
“If parasites want to riot over not enough free stuff, its time they showed who they are.”
Pollster1, the riots the article is suggesting would not be “we want free stuff” riots. They would be riots by the middle class about the crazy cost of health insurance. The middle class pays extortionate premiums so that Obama can subsidize the health insurance of his people.
They just go the nearest ER - Emergency Rooms can't turn them away, thanks to Congress ...
They get on The Disability and it comes with free government Medicaid.
How bad is it? THIS bad ............

The Good and the Bad of Obamacare
http://healthpolicyandmarket.blogspot.com/2016/10/the-good-and-bad-of-obamacare.html
In this interview [ http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000562441 ], I mentioned the information a broker in Naples Florida sent me regarding some of their customers buying Obamacare compliant individual health insurance.
Here are the broker’s 2017 examples:
Family of four, mom and dad age 40, two kids. Lowest Bronze annual premium $13,176. Deductible $7,150 single, $14,300 family. Income $130,000. Not eligible for subsidies. Exempt from the individual mandate because their premium exceeds 8.16% of their modified adjusted gross income (MAGI). The broker points out that their premium plus one deductible totals $20,23616% of MAGIthe point at which they can begin to collect on claims (there may be some nominal first dollar benefits such as a wellness benefit).
Single woman age 45. Lowest Bronze premium $4,968. Deductible of $7,150. Income of $50,000. Not eligible for a subsidy. Exempt from the individual mandate because her premium exceeds 8.16% of her MAGI. Broker points out that her customer’s premium plus the deductible totals $12,11824% of the customer’s MAGIthe point at which she can begin to collect on claims.
Couple ages 64 and 61. Lowest Bronze premium $20,004. Deductible of $7,150 single and $14,300 family. Income of $150,000. Not eligible for subsidies. Exempt from the individual mandate because premium exceeds 8.16% of MAGI. The broker points out that the total of their annual premium and one deductible is $27,15418% of their MAGIthe point at which they can begin to collect on claims.
Premiums obviously vary by market. Rather than taking my word for it, I suggest you go to HealthCare.gov and check out a few markets. You do not need to log in to browse the plan offerings. You need only insert a zip code and age and family status, as well as to enter a big income like $100,000 to be assured of getting the unsubsidized price no matter their status. The unsubsidized price is the price that half of the people buying Obamacare compliant plans are paying.

Act out the “riots” at the polling places. Get in line early in the day, stick with it until the polls close, and rush the door if they try to close them too soon.
Torches and pitchforks could turn out to be in short supply.
And remember these mandatory premiums are for what is essentially a catastrophic policy. Deductibles are generally in excess of of 6 to 8 thousand, a threshold most won’t meet. So people are being asked to pay from 6 to 8 hundred a month for the privilege of paying their medical expenses out of pocket.
They don’t have to riot - just vote Trump.
Just tell them Obama is personally stealing all those extra premiums to pay for resettling Syrian refugees in their towns
:)
“If parasites want to riot over not enough free stuff, its time they showed who they are.”
The looter class is already getting their healthcare mostly free. They’re not going to riot because working chumps get their premiums raised.
Respectfully disagree. I believe Obama played the insurance industry. They were totally on board with Pelosi/Obama thinking they would get 10's of thousands of new premiums. I actually believe they missed the unintended circumstances that was in the small print. I was amazed that they would lobby for "pre-existing conditions" and "parental extension for childrun up to 26". That's hardly insurance.
The made their bed and now they're pulling out or increasing premiums, co-pays, and obscene deductibles because of their bad decisions.
I read Trump's fix and he's right on. Interstate competition along would fix this mess - more competition = lower prices. It's called free market enterprise. Unless it's corrupted by greedy players and/or cronyism, it always works. It's a wonder to me that SO many nations have followed our successful formula, but yet our leaders want to reverse it as Europe has done. Any wonder Breixt occurred?
The middle class can “riot” much more efficiently than the looter class.
They haven’t been buying all those guns for nothing.
I cancelled mine last year because unless I had a heart attack (for example), the deductible was so high that I was simply paying for others.
When it first came out, Muslims were exempted from paying because the scam called Islam does not all payments for insurance. Therefore, the haves pay for the flood of Hussein Obama's Muslims.
The whole Obamacare insurance scam is based on having the haves pay for the havenots with "subsidies."
WHY would a guy named Hussein want to cause economic havoc with a healthcare scam? Anyone who has to ask that question should look in the mirror and realize that they are looking at an idiot.
Hillary is working hard to become the next Muslim Trojan horse. Hussein stopped the email indictment and Hillary's part of the deal is to continue the flooding of Muslims into the US.
This is the well-engineered push for complete government-run socialized medicine. Any opposition will be portrayed as support for the riots.
Theyre still getting big subsidies, at least the companies with Medicaid contracts
A flashback of Obama dropping one of his most egregious Obamacare lies, one that also proves he doesn’t have even a basic understanding of math...
