The Left may be repeating the mistakes they made in Germany after World War I. The Communists and other leftist groups were the first to initiate violence against their opponents. This is the atmosphere in which first the Stahlhelm, a pro-monarchist group of World War I veterans, and later the Brownshirts, Hitler's own thugs, arose. Hitler and his henchmen were far better at violence than were the Reds. The American Left is in worse shape than were their German Communist forbears of 80-90 years ago. At least they had tough, organized Germans of their same caliber as their Nazi opponents. The American Left must rely on drug addled hipsters and minority gangbangers.

In short, they will lose big if they go the thug route.
