Sentiment in the German economy continued to improve in October, bolstering hopes that the upturn in Europe's largest economy is gathering impetus after several months of lacklustre performance in key sectors earlier in the year.
The Ifo Business Climate Index, based on approximately 7,000 monthly survey responses from firms in Germany's manufacturing, construction, wholesaling and retailing sectors, rose from 109.5 points in September to 110.5 points in October, data published the Munich-based Ifo Institute showed. Companies indicated that they were more satisfied with their current business situation and expressed greater optimism about the months ahead.
