Trump's Contract With Voters — Is It Too Late To Make A Difference?
Investors Business Daily ^ | 10/24/2016 | Editorial

Election 2016: Over the weekend, Donald Trump produced a 100-day plan of action worthy of an reformist presidential candidate. While there are good and bad items on his agenda, it would on balance be a boon to the economy. Too bad Trump didn't release it earlier.

In his speech, delivered at the site of Lincoln's Gettysburg, Pa., address, Trump listed 28 actions he'd take either on his first day or during his first 100 days in office. calling it his "Contract With the American Voter."

"It is a contract between myself and the American voter, and begins with restoring honesty, accountability and change to Washington," he said.

Trump's 100-day plan falls into four broad categories — reining in the out-of-control federal government, tax reform, immigration and trade.

There's plenty to like here, even though we strongly disagree with Trump on his trade policies...

...Trump promises on day one to freeze federal hiring, impose either temporary or permanent bans on lobbying for government officials, cancel Obama's unconstitutional executive orders, and require that two regulations be eliminated for every new one enacted...

...How much of these items could Trump achieve if he did manage to get elected? Plenty, if voters handed him a mandate and a Republican congress.

The problem with Trump's "Contract" isn't the contents of it, but its timing. Coming just days before the election, it's unlikely to get much attention or make much of a difference in the outcome.

If Trump had released this ambitious reformist agenda months ago, and had conducted a disciplined campaign that consistently delivered on these messages, there's no question he'd be doing far better in all the polls than he is today against a corrupt, lying, big-government liberal with no new ideas.

Being behind in the polls is a separate concept from not winning. Reagan was consistently behind in the polls in 1980.

No, not too late. Timing is everything and Trump is laying out his final couple weeks very nicely. Non-engaged voters have likely heard from the media that Trump has no substance. They will now be tuning in, maybe hearing him for the first time. Their lying ears will hear unmistakable substance. That with reports of overwhelming crowds at his campaign stops, weak and non-existent support for Clinton, and repeated note of rigged campaign, will be winning combination. Trump will win!

I’ve seen so many of these articles telling TRUMP what he
“woulda, coulda, shoulda” done that THEY “woulda” done IF
it hada been THEM in his place.

The man is running against the CLINTON CRIME SYNDICATE, the
DEMOCRAT PARTY, the MAINSTREAM MEDIA, the GOP-ELITES who are
terrified they’re gonna lose their cushy little positions,
HOLLYWOOD, PBS and WHO ELSE?

Oh yeah, there’s HILLARY’S LIFELONG AMBITION to rule and
reign over us “BASKET OF DEPLORABLES”. (Bow when she enters
the room and DO NOT look directly at Her Highness,
DEPLORABLE!!)

Things have gone from normal to strange this election...

There have been so many things that are like never before...
The news media have shown who they are and backing hill
What makes anyone think the polls are honest? Because they have been before? But this year it’s different... this election is the epitome of corruption.. it’s everywhere.

What makes you think the polls are correct? Because they have been before.. doesn’t hold for this election..

Look at Trump’s rallies and look at the enthusiasm of hillary’s... 20,000 to 50... don’t tell me she is ahead and winning this..

The loudest voices are being heard.. they control the microphones and the cameras .. the nut job reporters are lying to us every day.. and you are going to believe their polls?

I am disgusted at Hannity, Rush and anyone else who is sounding defeated already.. It’s in their voices .. they are believing the polls.. when everyone and their dogs are against Trump and have tried to take him out in every way they can think of.. this defeated tone is damning to Trump... get over it and report the masses showing up to hear him and to see him.. there are millions of voters still waiting to vote! give them a reason to vote..!!!

Stop giving up already!! We’re the winners here.. sound like it!!
