Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott and the U.S. Justice Department are locked in a heated battle over the state's efforts to remove suspected illegal immigrants from voter rolls. The drive is aimed, the state says, at countering voter fraud.
Last month, Florida election officials announced that by cross-referencing voter rolls with driver's licenses and other materials, they believed 2,600 registered voters were in fact not U.S. citizens, and that they were looking into the records of another 180,000 registered voters.
Suspected noncitizens were then sent letters requiring them to confirm their citizenship in order to retain their voter rights. Critics of the initiative said the measure was effectively a voting purge targeting black and Hispanic communities--87 percent of the 2,600 voters are minorities--which tend to vote Democratic.
The U.S. Department of Justice said it would take legal action to stop the voter purge, arguing Florida's actions were in violation of the Voting Rights Act and the National Voter Registration Act. State officials double downed on their efforts, with Scott announcing on Fox News Tuesday that his administration would be suing the federal government over the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's refusal to share its immigration database with election officials, which, he said, would help Florida have "fair, honest elections."
Voter fraud has long been a concern of activists who argue that people can easily register under the names of deceased citizens, double register, or even vote without citizenship, thus compromising the democratic system Americans hold dear. "I have the job to do to defend the right of legitimate voters," Scott said.
Yet critics say that voter fraud is an exaggerated and even nonexistent issue, and that measures like those being taken in Florida only disenfranchise certain communities for political reasons. Is voter fraud a real problem? Here is the Debate Club's take:
Why were 180,000 aliens registered to vote in Florida? How has that number expanded in 2016? Or did Gov. Scott succeed in purging the voter rolls?
180,000 aliens registered to vote in Florida
That’s 180,000 cades of FRAUD. All generated by and for Demecrats.
Failure to strictly regulate the voting laws also interferes with the laws against foreign Nations influencing American elections.
The rat bastards knew what motor voter would do. It was a brilliant demonic plan.
More reason not to concede. There is no argument for the Injustice Dept. to have an issue with this. These are legitimate issues where our government is being outright criminal.
2012- Florida election officials were denied help by the feds to confirm citizenship status (and voter fraud) for an estimated 180,000 illegal immigrants already registered to vote in Florida.
The 180,000 votes in just one swing state are set in place to undermine and corrupt our election.
According to state records, Florida election officials have determined that massive voter fraud is taking place and that as many as 180,000 non-residents are registered to vote in the sunshine state for 2012. It only came to the attention of state election officials early last year when the states DMV turned over a large data-set containing the populations residency information. Upon sampling the data and running some preliminary checks, officials narrowed their estimate of illegally registered voters to 180,000.
Floridas Motor Voter Act of 1993 prohibited even asking immigration status when an individual filled out their voter registration form and does not require proof of citizenship.
One Naples voter admitted to a NBC-2 Tampa reporter that she was not a U.S. Citizen or legal immigrant. Election records show she voted six times in the past eleven years in Collier County elections. Election supervisors have no way to verify citizenship and are not required to ask for proof.
The Obama administration has been ignoring their repeated requests for access to DHS databases that will allow the Florida Secretary of State office to quickly determine the citizenship status of those on the list and put the issue to rest.
Not sure of the information’s origin, but recd. this as an email.
I thought you might find this interesting. I sure did!
Next time you hear Hillary, or any other Democrat, ranting about Republicans wanting to disenfranchise minorities by requiring voter ID, keep the following in mind:
* In 59 voting districts in the Philadelphia region, Obama received 100% of the votes with not even a single vote recorded for Romney. (A mathematical and statistical impossibility).
* In 21 districts in Wood County Ohio, Obama received 100% of the votes where GOP inspectors were illegally removed from their polling locations - and not one single vote was recorded for Romney. (Another statistical impossibility).
* In Wood County Ohio, 106,258 voted in a county with only 98,213 eligible voters .
* In St. Lucie County, FL, there were 175,574 registered eligible voters but 247,713 votes were cast.
* The National SEAL Museum, a polling location in St. Lucie County, FL had a 158% voter turnout.
* Palm Beach County, FL had a 141% voter turnout .
* In one Ohio County, Obama won by 108% of the total number of eligible voters .
NOTE: Obama won in every state that did not require a Photo ID and lost in every state that did require a Photo ID in order to vote .
Imagine that.....
ARE WE THE DUMBEST NATION ON THE PLANET OR WHAT?
Can any leftist politician point to one actual legit case of a voter being disenfranchised based on not having an ID to vote?
I am betting they can’t produce one person that has not been allowed to vote because they didn’t have an ID.
And they wouldn’t be able to produce one if Mandatory Voter ID was in place, because there would always be provisional balloting to allow for people who lost or misplaced their ID. It would just not be in the thousands of votes, there would probably be a half-dozen cases of this happening at each polling station.
If there were that many in 2012 I imagine there are plenty more in 2016, enough to hand Florida to Hillary.
They are allowed to cast a provisional ballot and produce proof within 48 hours.
For the thread:
Not all of the Trump venues are nailed down, but a campaign official said Trump wants to hit up seven of the states 10 media markets by holding rallies and events in or around Naples on Sunday; West Palm Beach, St. Augustine and Sanford on Monday; and Tampa, Miami and Tallahassee on Tuesday. Trump wanted a rally in the Melbourne-area as well, but a suitable venue wasnt found.
The man is a machine, said the campaign official, who didnt want to be identified because the schedule was being disclosed without approval. Florida is Mr. Trumps second home and its important that he do well here.
So, did Scott succeed in getting them off the rolls? or not?
“ARE WE THE DUMBEST NATION ON THE PLANET OR WHAT?”
Was there a competition for this honor, or what? Surely there is a surprising number of persons who were BORN here, of parents who were themselves LEGAL residents or even citizens, who have no idea of what it means to be Americans.
Children of ILLEGAL residents, who happened to be birthed on American soil, can still claim citizenship (I for one would like to see this concept challenged), but these offspring may never in their lives, though they lived from birth to now within the territory once known as “the United States of America”, also may not have any concept of what “American” really means, nor might they have any incentive to learn.
The GOP knew as well, yet when in power they did nothing.
they also know what exetending registration a full week would do. gov scott did not appeal.
one day ok, but a full week!?
I do not see the RNC fighting.

The gov gas been in office since 2011 and he’s just now beginning to get concerned?
* In St. Lucie County, FL, there were 175,574 registered

*************
That was the result of a multiple page ballot and each page was counted seperately. Thus
it appears as more votes cast than voters. Many threads on the topic back in the day.
No. So 2016 is likely much worse. See post #6.

Eric Shawn (FOX) went over some of these stats with Larry Sabato yesterday and what a jerk that Sabato is. He refuted every single one or at least attempted to. Shawn just kept on reciting case after case to no avail. He said he’d been studying this for DECADES and there is not any evidence of voter fraud in this country. A real dunce. We need to be mindful any time he appears. I haven’t seen much of him lately.
Right after that segment Eric Shawn had a guy on who ran for some local office and intended to vote for himself but the computer cast a vote for his opponent - again and again as the guy kept trying instead of calling in a poll worker to take a look at it. I figured he should have lost the election if he wasn’t smart enough to yell for help! Shawn should have tied THAT report in with the one with Sabato but I’m sure it wouldn’t have changed his mind - or ATTITUDE!
I don’t care if they registered as Republicans, non-citizens do not have the right to vote!
Yes, 87 percent of the 2,600 voters are minorities—which tend to vote Democratic.
