Facebook employees reportedly pushed to censor posts from Donald Trump until CEO Mark Zuckerberg intervened, according to The Wall Street Journal's Deepa Seetharaman.

Some employees allegedly said that a post on Trump's Facebook page from December about the presidential candidate's call to ban all Muslims from entering the U.S. should be taken down as hate speech. Zuckerberg then personally ruled "that it would be inappropriate to censor the candidate," the report notes.

I believe you are right.....also I think mark Zuckburg is smart enough to know if you are going to get away with political censorship you do it to the small guy not some one who can fight back... trump at this point as a presidential candidate would cause to big of a possible regulatory blow back with people asking for oversight through laws and the creation agencies he does not want that because he wants to make the decisions with his company on what speech he will allow on his network.

Wow, Zuck got something right? He probably was just afraid of the blowback he would have surely received.

Yes, good for Zuckerberg. Presidential candidates should not be censored. His dumb employees, on the other hand, would probably fit in with a Clinton administration.

well, Not only that but I would think that even this Suggestion at the corporate table would be Career Limiting. It really militates against their corporate charter.

Good for Zuckerberg.

The Zuck was too afraid to "censor the candidate."

But he nevertheless allows that censorship is legitimate.

He is unfit to lead a social media site. Please abandon Facebook!

F the Zuck!

I hadn’t thought about this before but Facebook could be determined to be a public utility and thus be subject to profit reducing regulations. It has become an extremely important vehicle for speech.

I think everyone here is missing Zuckerberg's motive. HE also thinks it's hate speech, or at least hopes that you do. That's exactly why he ruled against taking it down...If it was taken down, no one would see Trump's "hate speech".

< Don’t kid yourself. It’s about the $$$ Trump generates a lot of traffic.

And he probably realizes that is Trump is elected the next president it might not be a good idea to be on his bad side. Trump strikes me as a guy who keeps a list of who his enemies are and aren't.

To the babies that work at Facebook: Speech that “you don’t like” does not equal “hate speech”. Nap time boys & girls!

Zuckerberg would like to ban Trumo speech probably but he’s seen what happened last week to Twitter for blocking James OKeefes videos. Did not go over well. The peasants revolted and Twitter was forced to back down from their Speech banning for a time.
