At Hindu-American rally, Trump pitches India and U.S. as ‘best friends’

This was a Donald Trump rally like no other.

On the same day that the Republican presidential nominee told a mostly white crowd in Maine that he would unite the United States under “one god,” he appeared in front of a crowd of thousands of people of Indian extraction and lit a Hindu ceremonial candle.

“I am a big fan of Hindu and a big fan of India,” he said, to loud cheers from a crowd composed of many American citizens, but also many, who are at various stages along the path to citizenship or just visiting from India.

The rally, in Edison, N.J., was organized by the Republican Hindu Coalition, whose founder, Shalabh Kumar, is one of Trump’s biggest fundraisers. Trump repaid Kumar’s generosity with a remarkably warm speech toward Hindus and India in which he said the two nations would be “best friends.”

At the end of a week in which Trump faced a seemingly ever-growing number of sexual assault allegations, the rally in New Jersey provided a welcome diversion. The nominee stuck entirely to praise for India and its prime minister, Narendra Modi, as well as his standard policy positions

In a statement days before the rally, Kumar defended Trump against the allegations, saying, “The Hindu and Indian people do not abandon their friends in times of crisis. With India and Pakistan on the brink of war, and lives at stake in the global war on terror, Mr. Trump is the president we need at this time.”

Hindu supporters of Trump at the event said they find common ground with the candidate on his perceived toughness against “radical Islamic terror,” as well as promises of low taxes

..." people make Trump out to be a racist and a xenophobe, and he’s not.”

Perhaps Trump will be the one to finally get Asian-Americans to a party that better reflects their social conservative values

In the world of realpolitik, we side with Pakistan in order to gain access to the moslem world and because Pakistan has lots of nukes - not because it’s “the right thing to do.”

If he’s elected, Trump may well correct this moral lapse.

Trump could potentially do better than any recent republican candidate amongst Indian Hindus/Sikhs. A few opinions why:

1. Many Hindus are doctors. My PCP and Cardiologist are both Indian and we get into great political discussions sometimes. They hate Obamacare. My assumption is that they are not the only 2 Indian doctors opposed to Obamacare.

2. Many Indians are small business owners. Most small business owners like the idea of less regulation and lower taxes.

3. Hindus/Sikhs in India suffer 10x more from Islamic terrorism (from neighboring Pakistan) than we do right now here. Trump is tough on terror and i’m sure they like his tough vetting and no syrian refugees proposals.

4. There families have a typically conservative formation. Low divorce rate, hard-working people and kids. Peaceful, god-fearing people.

Trump would be smart to target this audience more.

It is true. Hindu's representative gods and KRSNA comprise incarnations of the supreme godhead. There is no pretense at a "final word," as there is with Mo-Mo the illiterate pirate-burglar paedophile.

Yeah they’re our friend. Tell that to an engineer that’s been replaced by a cheaper not as capable Indian with an H1B visa.

well, that’s more the fault of the American company that did the replacing. The Indian grabbed the opportunity given — why not?

First of all, I don’t hate Trump. At this point, I’m inclined to support him.

Unlike you, I don’t hate anyone.

Second, I can disagree with people without making them enemies, unlike far too many people in this country. I strongly disagree with Trump on this. I don’t think he’s well informed on this matter, nor are his advisers. I think he needs more information. But assuming he’s elected, we can work with him on it.

Hey TBP, you never responded after I posted evidence on the Paki & Khalistani jihadi relationship. You never even responded to my questions on your good friends Edolphus Towns and Ajrawat.

In fact, I though you had gone back to Islamabad. Then, I recalled the recent “tragedy” that has fallen upon your outfit, lobbyists Council of Khalistan. I though that maybe you went to meet your fellow Khalistani Paramjit Ajrawat for the weekend.

How are you all coping in light of Ajrawat’s “situation” in your Council of Khalistan?
