If pass interference is called on defense in End Zone, it's 1st and 10 on the 2 yard line.
What if time ran out on that play where the penalty was called? Does offensive team get one play from the 2 regardless of time, does Ref put some time back on clock or ?
What's the rule?

IIRC, the game can not end on a defensive penalty.

If the defense commits a penalty on a play where time runs out in the half or the game, the offense gets one more untimed play. Repeat if the defense commits a penalty on that play too.
I don't know what happens at the end of the 1st or 3rd quarter, whether there is an untimed play or if the penalty is enforced at the beginning of the next quarter.

Yes, the offense gets one more play on what is called an “untimed down.” The clock does not run. Same rule for the end of a half.

Correct. A half cannot end on a defensive penalty.

Nope...One yard line...
In the NFL and the Canadian Football League the penalty for defensive pass interference is an automatic first down at the spot of the foul. If the foul occurs in the end zone, the ball will be placed at the one-yard line (or half the distance to the goal if the line of scrimmage was already inside the 1 yard line).

Untimed downs only bappen at the end of the half or the game. Does not happen at the end of the quarter. They just go to the next quarter since possession does not end.

Pass interference in the end zone will result in a first down at the one-yard line in the NFL.
A game or half can't end on a defensive penalty.

In college it’s 1st and goal at the 2, unless the offense is further than the 17 yard line in which case it’s a 15 yard penalty. In NFL it’s always first and goal at the 1.
If the PI happens as the clock expires in a half, there will be 1 untimed down at 0:00, a half cannot end on a defensive penalty.

Also, there seem to be some exceptions to the half ending in the minutiae of the rules. There was a game decided this year by giving an untimed down when it should not have been granted

Nope...One yard line... I think the NFL uses the one yard line, but the NCAA definitely uses the 2.

For an average 11 minutes of actual game action (snap to whistle).
