Joan wanted everyone to clearly understand before any further discussion occurred with UK that Savage's exclusion could also have occurred under our legal regime so to the extent we want to suggest to UK that his exclusion on free speech grounds is inappropriate (or any thing of that like) that we should understand we may appear slightly hypocritical given our legal regime and actions.
I went back to the original State Dept. email, and a great deal of it was redacted under the "B5" exemption to the FOIA. So, be aware that a lot of context could be missing.
I'm curious -- even though US law may enable it, has anyone actually been excluded from entering the US for reasons similar to what was used by the UK against Savage?
How about we say that anybody who has said “Allahu Akbar!” needs to be excluded from entering (or staying in) our country, on the same grounds that UK kept Savage out, and that these folds say their “legal regime” could do the same....
And somebody should ask them if Huma Abedin’s family should be kept out of the country for their MB jihadist magazine.
If they redact it, it is entirely reasonable to assume that they are removing details injurious to the state’s position and actions. This is, after all, The Most Corrupt Administration In History.
