For Paul Ryan, a Long, Labored Path Leading Away From Donald Trump
NY Times ^ | October 16, 2016 | Jennifer Steinhauer

Posted on 10/16/2016 5:50:36 AM PDT by bobsunshine

Speaker Paul D. Ryan was in a hotel room in Cincinnati last May when he learned that Donald J. Trump — a man he barely knew, with no institutional ties to his party and a mouth that had already clacked his nerves — had secured the Republican nomination for president.

Mr. Trump had recently lost the Wisconsin primary, which Mr. Ryan and other Republicans in the state thought would presage the reality television star’s demise. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas had made strides, and Mr. Ryan thought the campaign would snake into the summer.

But he badly miscalculated. The ensuing path, from Mr. Trump’s securing the nomination to Mr. Ryan’s decision not to have the nominee appear with him at a rally in Wisconsin a month before Election Day, has been jagged and treacherous, marked by brief moments of hope that Mr. Trump could be controlled, followed by the sinking realization that he could not.

Ryan is a mid-level DREEG trying to climb the ladder to the top tier.

If and when Ryan run against a Dem candidate, all these nice talks will be replaced by vile accusations.

Ryan can take a long labored path to the nearest outhouse and stay there for all I care about him.

Before he was tapped to be Romney's VP running mate, all I heard about Ryan was how he was so smart, so knowledgeable on the budget and finances, so this and so that. People here on FR and elsewhere expected Ryan to wipe the floor with Biden. The VP debate was my first direct exposure to the man, and wow was I shocked. He was terrible in that debate. Seriously awful. I thought that would be the end of his career, but he turned up as speaker and sure enough, he's been a disaster. What on earth did people ever seen in that man to elevate him to the third highest elected office in our country?

I'm voting for Trump and I've contributed directly to his campaign.

That said, because of Ryan, I will not vote for another Republican candidate, yes, I will vote Trump then vote a straight RAT ticket.

When the Republicans act like RATS, you might as well vote for the real thing.

And yes, it's going to hurt to do it, I've NEVER voted RAT before, not ever.

It seemed pretty easy for him to run away from the American people with the 2015 budget. After we gave the Rs congress in 2014 we heard 12 months of lies about how they were going to do a real budget, a conservative budget. Admittedly Ryan was only in charge the last couple of month but even he said they’d get it done. Then he dropped the omnicrap bill and went home in December. This year’s budget seems the same.

If things are harder now it’s because we aren’t as easily fooled. He can no longer claim that there are two competing parties in DC. Or that his is conservative. Or his cares about the people.

marked by brief moments of hope that Mr. Trump could be controlled...

That's why I hate spineless twits like Ryan, they believe nothing and controlled by the elites. That's why I like Trump. He can't be controlled.

This election is the public's golden opportunity to kill the elitist beast.

quotes from article:

“…marked by brief moments of hope that Mr. Trump could be controlled, followed by the sinking realization that he could not.”

Controlled by whom? Ryan got elected by a few votes form a small district. Trump got nominated because of millions of votes nationwide. Ryan is overrunning his headlights.

“Trump really wasn’t on Paul’s radar screen,” said A. Mark Neuman, a Ryan friend

Ryan is not on the nation’s radar screen.

“If we try to play our own version of identity politics and try to fuel ourselves based on darker emotions, that’s not productive,” [Ryan] said.

In other words, placing America first is a dark emotion for this Walter Mitty.

“Mr. Ryan had hoped that Mr. Trump would eventually embrace his plan.”

Ryan’s ego must be beyond comprehension. He evidently thinks the universe revolves around himself. It is up to him to embrace Trump’s plan. The nation is not voting on this twerp’s plans.

“With campaign rhetoric getting increasingly contentious, Mr. Ryan made the unusual choice of announcing that he was not ready to endorse Mr. Trump.”

Time and tide wait for no man. He knows what he can do with his freaking endorsement.

“In text messages and phone calls, Mr. Priebus tried to persuade Mr. Ryan — who was relishing his independence — to accept Mr. Trump”

But Trump is not permitted to relish his own independence. According to Ryan’s understanding, he can only relish and chase after Ryan’s approval.

“Ultimately, he chose not to withdraw his endorsement to keep Republicans motivated to vote...”

Now, we can all sleep peacefully. The Man has looked down and sort of smiled on us deplorables.

The NYT likes the caving-in weenie who will give Hillary even more than she asks for, as he has done with Obama, which makes him a Democrat lackey, not an opposition leader. Another reason for Republicans to dump him next session….if they still have a majority after his disastrous speaker-ship in the last session.

LOL, you mean surrender when it counts but act like a conservative if there is a meaningless show vote?

Ryan is a weasel and needed to be removed by the voters in his district.
Since they failed America, the rest of us need to make clear to our congressman that they return him to Speaker at THEIR peril.

RYAN, in that debate with JOE BIDEN, was skunked with some
sort of underhanded trick which appeared to be the addition
of some sort of chemical to his water that was furnished by
the “debate organizers” that quickly rendered him weirdly
THIRSTY . . and GULPING, GULPING, GULPING, GULPING glass
after glass after glass of water . . . . . . while BIDEN
just stared at him and grinned like a raccoon with those
pearly white teeth gleaming in the lights. Suspicious.
