U.S. rejoins UNESCO 18 years after withdrawal

UNITED NATIONS - U.S. President George W. Bush announced Thursday that the United States is rejoining the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “to advance human rights, tolerance, and learning.”

The United States withdrew from the Paris-based organization 18 years ago to protest its alleged mismanagement and overly political policies. (snip)
