There was a subpeona from congress to turn over the emails. Hillary’s team would know that Obama would claim executive privledge for himself and everyone wor him (excluding him from turning anything over)
Hillary’s team was debating internally whether to destroy evidence (obama and admin’s incoming emails) which is show in this wikileak.
They would have a duty to provide those emails as they do not have executive privledge for emails across a private server after she left the Sec. of State job.

To add to your post. You can’t claim executive privilege to cover up a crime. Nixon tried that. Of course the rule of law ONLY applies to Repugs, never Dumbcrats.
