There were 80,000 more total votes in the 2016 Dim primary than the Republican primary - 1.65 million vs. 1.57 million.
In 2008, There were 1.8 million Democratic primary voters vs. 810,000 Republican primary voters.
Obummer beat McLame in Penn 3.2 million vs. 2.6 million.
So even with a hotly contested 2016 Dim primary, total Dim primary voters went down by 150,000, while in an equally hotly contested race Republican primary voters nearly doubled.
What does this mean for November 28th? Who knows. I think Trump has a much better shot in Penn than McLame or Romney, but it will all come down to turnout.
