A top aide to Hillary Clinton is under fire from Catholic groups for remarks she made in hacked emails published by Wikileaks, with one group calling on Clinton’s communications director Jennifer Palmieri to resign.

In an email exchange from 2011, senior fellow John Halpin at the progressive think tank Center for American Progress sent an email to Palmieri and Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta in which he mocked media mogul Rupert Murdoch and former Wall Street Journal managing editor Robert Thompson for raising their children Catholic.

“Friggin' Murdoch baptized his kids in Jordan where John the Baptist baptized Jesus,” Halpin wrote. “Many of the most powerful elements of the conservative movement are all Catholic (many converts) from the SC and think tanks to the media and social groups. It's an amazing bastardization of the faith. They must be attracted to the systematic thought and severely backwards gender relations and must be totally unaware of Christian democracy.”

Podesta did not respond to the email chain, but Palmieri weighed did:

“I imagine they think it is the most socially acceptable politically conservative religion,” she wrote. “Their rich friends wouldn't understand if they became evangelicals.”

The Catholic League, an anti-defamation organization, blasted the Clinton campaign for the exchange.

“These anti-Catholic remarks are bad enough but it makes one wonder what else Clinton’s chiefs and others associated with the campaign are saying about Catholics and Catholicism,” the group said in a statement.

I WISH the truth was that a vast majority of Catholics were very conservative about their religion.

But I am dismayed that she doesn’t seem to like us.

I might just lose 5 minutes of sleep over it.

That b.tch.

I guess they mean Evangelicals are more unacceptable in their eyes than Catholics especially since they have done everything to alienate Evangelicals they can.

There is nothing Christian about the democrat party so I am not surprised but dems have promoted a progressive Catholic Church, guess it is not happening fast enough though they should be very happy with this new pope.

Democrats are Catholic bashing lowlifes. Any “Catholic” who defines themselves a “democrat” is by definition not a Catholic.

The Democrat Way:

Halprin “Resigns” and the very next day gets hired as a staffer for a “non-partisan, non-governmental organization”, and resumes his role before the coffee pot timer in his office goes off.

Bingo... you can disagree with the Pope about the role of government vs private charity in helping the poor, but there really isn’t any wiggle room when it comes to abortion. When Kaine stated his biggest struggle as governor was dispensing the death penalty because his faith was against it, I just shook my head. The entire reason there is ANY debate in the Church over the death penalty is due to the sanctity of life (which applies at the moment of conception). The Church holds that the death penalty is to be avoided if there is ANY other means to protect the innocent from the offender (allowing the opportunity for contrition, repentance and redemption). The argument goes that with life in prison without parole, the offender can do no more harm and might yet be saved. With the instability in our world today, I’m not sure how much longer the Church will hold the position that it is the exceptional circumstance that calls for the death penalty... instability precludes certainty of sustained imprisonment.

Here in my state Catholics overwhelmingly voted for Obama. I think I had read it was near 80% (high 70% for sure).

Maybe some will vote R this time around.

Why? There is hardly any difference between the two parties.

Well not technically true.

They can call themselves Democrats they just can’t vote for or financially support a Democrat politician that publically supports abortion or financially support the party until it removes support of abortion from its platform.

Now if that was Trump’s aide, they would be demanding Trump resign. Why not ask hrc to step down?

Start with the hierarchy and their treatment of politicians like Kennedy, Pelosi etc etc
