Whatever happened to eating and drinking what you like?
Unbeknownst to the author of this stupidity is that pumpkins are actually food, and are eaten with regularity in many countries (i.e. cultures).
I choose to not decorate pumpkins but to actually throw them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for an hour or so and then cool to room temperature separate the now outer shell from the meat and extract the seeds and use the flesh of the pumpkin for all kinds of dishes such as chili, veggie hashes, pie, general filler etc... Pumpkins are a very good food source which sustains millions globally.
“Lisa Jordan Powell, its lead author is barking mad.”
I managed to get through about 2/3s of her journal article. Whew!!! She says a lot, but with no point but that white people adopt pumpkins as some sort of racist, elitist symbolism.
She derides Starbucks for not using any pumpkin in its pumpkin spice latte without ever realizing that “pumpkin” is an adjective for “spice.”
I suppose she would have another meltdown if she were to think of the origin of the Europeans’ use of that particular spice set.
