Paul Ryan Turns Focus From Donald Trump to House Races, Roiling G.O.P.
NY Times ^ | Oct. 10, 2016 | ALEXANDER BURNS and JONATHAN MARTIN

The House speaker, Paul D. Ryan, dealt a hammer blow to Donald J. Trump’s presidential candidacy on Monday, dashing any remaining semblance of Republican unity and inviting fierce backlash from his own caucus by announcing that he would no longer defend Mr. Trump.

Mr. Ryan’s stance drew an immediate rebuke from Mr. Trump, who posted on Twitter that Mr. Ryan should focus on governing “and not waste his time on fighting Republican nominee.”

Mr. Ryan informed Republican lawmakers on a morning conference call that he would never again campaign alongside Mr. Trump and would dedicate himself instead to defending the party’s majority in Congress, according to five lawmakers who participated in the call and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Ryan should immediately resign as speaker of the house and resign from being a Republican, register as a Democrat and run for reelection as a Democrat.

Ryan has been leading the House in a full retreat. How is that record going to support his continued leadership?

A freshman Democrat in a D jersey is far less dangerous to the rest of us than a turncoat Speaker Democrat in an R jersey.

Since they failed to Cantorize him in the primary like they should have, I hope they hold their nose and vote for the Democrat in the D jersey.

What is really scary is, he hates Trump, and the Speaker is third in line for the presidency.

He’s an opportunist who would sell his soul to the devil/Obama, for a gain power.

His actions will cost the down ballots across the board.

Funny, but a couple of days ago, I was wondering what happened to Ryan, he seemed to have gone dark. Now he prisses out and says he will ignore Trump, not campaign with or for him.

He hasn’t been doing either.

Ryan is trying to get noticed. He seems to think he can make or break Trump. He is delusional, among other things.

“Ryan is a well-groomed snake.”

And this is an insult to snakes.

If Trump loses, the GOP is dead. Millions of us will never vote for anyone from the GOP ever again. There’s no point anyway: the ones we’ve elected already have done nothing but stab us in the back, so why bother installing another batch of back-stabbers just so they can feast on the free caviar at all of those D.C. parties.

You are getting played by the New York Times.

This article is a joke. Hammer blow? Ryan is irrelevant.

Pretty sure he will be voted out by the house IF he wins his state.

The NYT didn’t just invent what Ryan said, he really said it:

“Mr. Ryan informed Republican lawmakers on a morning conference call that he would never again campaign alongside Mr. Trump and would dedicate himself instead to defending the party’s majority in Congress, according to five lawmakers who participated in the call and spoke on the condition of anonymity.”

Made sure my congress critter and Senate candidate knew my fellings today.

THe Senate is a hopeless cause but the representative has made a number of hard votes though he did vote for Ryan as Speaker.

My mood toward the Elites is nothing that can be discussed on this forum.

The Never Trumpers including so called conservative talk and TV people have my strong ire. One expected the attacks from the Clinton’s but.....

RWminds me of Braveheart and the traitorous scots who sold him out and left the battlefield.
