Two police killings two decades apart leave same questions for Sacramento families

A.J. Thiel was 15 when his father, Albert Glenn Thiel, was killed in 1997 in an incident involving John Tennis, the Sacramento police officer who fatally shot a mentally ill man in North Sacramento in July of this year.

Read Kevin Williamson’s article in National Review. It was 18 months or so ago. These cops are not our friends.

Neither are uncivilized scofflaws, whose only concept of the law is what they think they can get away with.

Seems decent people are pretty well screwed.

I am not a universal fan of police but it does not seem to me that these officers in either of the described situations were out of line. One crack head car thief bit the dust because he fought with police. The other, an insane man left loose on the streets, died because he was a danger to himself and the community at large. My only recommendation would be more range time and larger caliber handguns.
