Three police officers have been shot Saturday in Palm Springs, according to a department release.
They are hospitalized and their conditions are unknown.
Dozens of law enforcement officers are involved in a search for the shooter or shooters in the are of Cypress and Del Lago roads in Palm Springs. Police are encouraging residents in the area to stay indoors while they conduct an investigation.

Frances Serrano, who lives directly across the street from where the shooting took place, spoke to the father of the suspected shooter moments before the incident. The father told Serrano that his son, who has mental issues, had a gun and wanted to shoot cops.

Terrible. From what I’ve read, two of the three officers are dead and the third is being treated. The killer is apparently on parole for robbery, mentally unstable and wanted to kill cops according to his father.
Prayers for them and their families.

This guy has been terrible on so many levels, domestically and internationally.
Yes, there are many wealthy retired and gay folks living in Palm Springs and nearby upscale communitites. But someone has to wait tables, clean hotel rooms, and tend all those pools and golf courses. There are few blacks in PS (except on the far north end, far from the downtown and tourist-y areas), but many mostly-hard-working Hispanics. Despite the glamour, there are all the usual problems with drugs and crime.
